All the following blades are made by Lord Co in either Alexandria of Port Said in Egypt.

So everyone knows I used 2 blades; one in a Weber and the other in a Merkur Slant and did only 2 shaves apiece, since I do not use blades more than twice, since to me 2 shave x 100 blades=200 and at $12 per 100 Astra Platinum’s you do the math.

Weber and Merkur Slant: These blades were probably the most forgiving of the lot. I performed 3 passes and did not notice any nick or weeper, but did get some sting when using the Alum Block. I did notice roughness later on in the day, and this was noticeable no matter which razor I used.
All in all it did the job, but I think these would be good for someone new to DE Shaving.

Crown: These were probably the biggest disappointment of all. Theses blades did not perform very well in the Weber nor the Slant, I even tried them in a Gillette SS Blue, the most forgiving razors I know and got a weepers on every shave. I gave up on the 3rd try and probable throw them in my expired blade tin, unless someone wants to try them, they may have a better luck, and a face that will take to the blade.

Alexandria:

Big Ben (Blue and Purple Box) same blades the only difference is the blue box has 5 blades while the purple has 10 in the box. These blades performed well and I like the shave on the first round with both razor. The second round the Weber shave was nice and mild, the Slant being somewhat aggressive was not as pleasant, but I expected this, nice but still not the choicest blades on this list.

Lords Super stainless: I do not know how they make blades nor do I know how a plant can make a blade that is trash while the next brand it produces, give a great shave, the lord stainless fall under the latter, but still was not as great as it brother the platinum’s. But I digress; the stainless performed very well in both Weber and the Slant, no nick or weeper and I was smooth until late in the day when I notice some roughness, it is a good blade, but wait…


Lord Platinum, I do not why this is but these blades were the best of the bunch and over preformed, since I used one 3 time (I was late and forgot to change it out) and it still gave me a great shave. I still not sure why different make preform differently from the same company, but these are keeper in my book

Thanks for the road test. I'm new at this an still searching for that perfect shave.

Lord brands I've used: Lord Stainless, Super Chrome, and Platinum. The Chromes seemed the smoothest to me and about middle of the road in sharpness. Usable but meh. The Stainless and Platinums seemed rough, and middle of the road sharpness. Similar to the much maligned Derby blade in my experience. I have a Shark SC pack I received as a freebie I have yet to try.

I have a package of Shark blades that were given to me by Jayaruh, (Thanks again, Jim)I got a good shave with them, not the best but I have not used all of them up yet.

I love these blade reviews. So far all I've used are Dorco blades. I read all of these reviews, and yes I know YMMV, but thats just the way I am. I always do a ton of "research" before I commit to something lol

I have the Weber Short handle and love the weight which helps in a smooth shave, as you yourself know, since you own a Weber.
I use the Weber, Slant, and Gillette Slim, most out of my many razors. I do have some comb razors that I like when I have a thick stubble
and use the revamped 1930's Gillette comb over the ATT 5 piece. Why some may ask, I just like the feel of the shave the Gillette gives.
The ATT is a great razor, do not get me wrong, but if you are new to shaving you can get a $70 Weber , a $25 Gillette SS , a E&J, or a Merkur, and
enjoy your shave just as much as a $255 ATT 5 piece.

ASCO reds (Lord; Port Said)

As an American, like many other nations, I symbolize colors with a items overall ability to perform.
This is used by manufactures to sell an item, and they have departments to produce an items packaging
that colors draw a peoples eyes to that item, which they will buy.
This is why I was drawn to these blade as I was Lords with the holograms.
***But looks can be deceiving ***
I am not sure how a factory can produce so many different brands of a razor and some are terrible ,others are
just good, while others are "out-of-this-world".
The shave these blades produces were fantastic, and gave the same performance in the Weber and the Merkur Slant.
First Shave: I decided to shave that evening using the weber, because I was going out with the wife (and those who are married, should know some women love a smooth face).
The shave was fantastic, no weeper and no seen nicks, I did have places were the alum stung, but to me that is normal.
What was shocking is that the next day in the afternoon I was going out as the families taxi driver and felt my face and I was still smooth.
I grow a beard fast and should have stubble; I went to a mirror to see, and I was still smooth.
The Slant performed even better, being what I consider a aggressive razor (I was told to wait before buying one, until I became better acquainted with razor techniques).
These blade produces another great shave, again no knick or weepers, and this continued in the other shaves; the blades held up performing the same use after use.
I will be buying some more of these blades.
Again look can be deceiving

Rainbows work well on me. I get 5 to 6 shaves with them! Always liked them wish they were more available!

Asco Blues
Unknown Manf. made in Egypt.

I could not believe that these are ASCO, because these produced the worse shave ever.
They not only did not give a good shave, but produced a few weepers.
I became convinced that I made a mistake with the Red Box and gave them another try, and they preformed
great.
So I have to concluded that these are fakes. How can I conclude this.
1. All other blade have the Lord trade mark and the city produced, these have neither.
2 The Reds have telephone number to Lords, these do not.
3. The Red have a web address, these do not.
4. Lastly all these say are "Made in Egypt". Nothing else.
I will be sending one package to the PIF winner, the rest I will use for modeling, not for shaving.
I will be buying the Reds, the blues I will be staying far away from.

This isn't the first I hear of counterfeit Lord blades. That is the reason Lord puts a hologram on their packages. The fakes are probably made in China.

Not all blades produced by lords have holograms, I.e. Sharks, Big. Ben, etc. The only blades the have the Hologram are the Lord as shown above.

My final shave from Egypt will be Shark blades produced by Lords, then I will move to Pakistan, for some Treets.

So I decide to skip the Shark since they are a very common blade and I am sure others have posted on them. So I jumped to Pakistan: and the first Blade to see my razors was:



Trig is produced by the Treet Company and I hope the other blades I have from this company are better.
Weber: The 1st shave was "OK" but nothing special and it did take a second ATG to get a decent shave.
Alum block was used and left my face stinging, but there was no blood, which in my book is a good thing.
Weber 2nd Shave: The shave was again "Ok", and it produce one weeper, that stop with a septic stick, and
my Wm. Neumann Signature 1907 aftershave really brought out the sting on the nicks. So I have to conclude that this
is a one use blade.
Merkur Slant: Lets just say this was not the prettiest shave, and produce weepers, something I did not get with the Asco Reds
(Egypt, and which I bought some more of).
I will not ever take a second chance with this blade.
(I will be collecting unused blades from this experiment and will give others a chance to use these blades, via another PIF).

After I finish Pakistan I will jump to the Russian Federation to try some of their blades (Astra is not on this list).

I have some doubles that will be used in a future PIF.

I can buy 2 Weber with the "Classic Handle" and a Weber 3pc with the "Bulldog Handle" and 2 Extra Weber Handle's for a few S&H Greens Stamps less than a ATT 5 piece set. I will not waste my money.
For the people who own the Above the Tie set, I am not saying they are baad, they are just over priced IMO.

So let's talk about Treet Blades, and why I am not doing a review of each blade. Like the Trigs (made by Treet), each blade preformed the same, giving lackluster shaves with multiple nicks and weepers. I believe all the blades are the same just packaged differently. I will be sending some to a few of the older members who want to try these blades, they may get better results.
I thought I had lost my shaving technique, that is until I tried a Russian Federation Sputnik blade. I am happy to report this was another nice shave. But you will have to wait until I finish the test and the you can read my review.

Sputnik blades?! I've got to find those!

So here we have Sputnik from the Russian Federation and made by Proctor & Gamble. I wish I could say these are
"Out of the World" blades but I cannot.
I am not saying these are bad blades, like the Treets, but I have had better, i.e. Astra Platinum.
The Weber: These blade did well on both shave, but did leave behind some stubble after 2 passes. I needed a 3rd
to feel like I was smooth. I did not get any weepers, but there were some nick that the alum block brought to my attention,
but I do not consider this to be a problem, others may.
Merkur Slant: This blade did not perform well with this razor, which I will attribute to the aggressiveness of the razor. I did shave
my face, but I could not get a smooth finish, no matter how many passes I did (trust me the weeper after the 5th pass, stop me from
trying more).
I will be putting the rest on the side for a PIF later when I get some others blades together.
