It set the modern day standard and became the OEM supplier for many top line shaving suppliers branded razors such as Edwin Jagger, Rooney, etc. It has also been copied by some of the newer razor manufactures as well but the Muhle finish quality isn't there. The quality, fit and finish, and excellent chroming cannot be matched in this price range. It is a must have for every shave den. A clean close comfortable shave on a beautiful cool and sunny Sunday morning here in Southwestern Oregon. Enjoy your weekend Gentlemen!

The lightly knurled handle of the R41 (as well as the polished acrylic handle on the R102) is a little too light and doesn't have the confident grip required when using the very aggressive (2011) R41 head. It works fine for the mild R89 Closed Comb head where a slight miscontact of the safety bar doesn't result in a slice or nick. I will be using the R41/T2 Combo tomorrow which should provide the more secure grip and handling required for this more aggressive R41 's horizontal blade exposure. I will also be using the White Acrylic R102 handle with a (2010) R41 Open Comb head (same geometry as the Merkur Open Comb head) which is also very mild and doesn't require as secure and confident grip as the more aggressive (2011) R41 head. I really like the looks of the Muhle lightly knurled Chrome handle and the White acrylic handle and they are just fine for use with the milder heads.
No need to be that extreme, a little Alum on your finger tips helps a lot. I like the looks of the Muhle handles, but hate using them. They are too long, light and slippery for my lack of manual dexterity. Do you get good grip with the handle from Elite Razor? I like the looks of them but worry about the grip.
Good tip Dale; I will have to get an alum block one of these days as it will definately help with the grip on those slippery handles. The Elite handles are very smooth. Some are acrylic, others are polished stone and others are wood. I have a wood handle and it's not problem at all. I also have an acrylic handle and even though it's very smooth, the slightly bulbeous shape of it provides a pretty secure grip. I have a Cadet Open Comb head on the wood Elite handle and it works great. I still wouldn't use it with the 2011 R41 head though but, with the milder heads it's no problem. The Elite handles are heftier than the hollow EJ or Muhle handles and the additional weight is definately an asset. Be aware however, that the Elite handles are about 4 inches long so, if length is an issue, it might not work for you. I hope that helps.
I know it´s a bit off topic , but i can only highly recommend the Elite Razor Handles too. I bought one a year or so ago. My "Barber Pole"-Handle.The grip is very good (like @Stroker wrote in his post). Here is my Handle... I like it very much. Greetings Thorsten
