I feel like my collection wont be complete without one each of the following:

    EJ89

    Gillette Fatboy Adjustable

It's just seems like these two razors are the essential ones to own. So they are on my list. And maybe a Merkur Futur, but thats it. Oh and a Schick Injector.. but no more after that... oooh but I'd LOVE to have a Cobra Classic...

I think I need help. lol

    On yer face. Duh! ;)

Uh... better not tell her that! :scared003:

@Adonis - of course you need them all (kinda like Pokemon?)!
I'd start with the EJ. Unless you find a really good deal on the Fat Boy, I fully endorse the Chinese knockoff of the Merkur Futur, which can be found here. It is adjustable, but that is almost all it has in common with the Fat Boy. Otherwise, it is a high quality razor for half the price of its German inspiration.

As for feeding my RAD, I think I can find a whole lot of shaving bang-for-the buck before I crank my budget up to a Cobra... but I sure would like one! Unfortunately, my SWMBO must know Patrick's! She asks the same kind of questions... AND tells me I am taking up too much room! <sigh>

Buy more razors. Stop before divorce. Otherwise enjoy! :sport026:

You also need some GEM, Star and Ever-Ready 1912's, an Ever-Ready 1914 and 1924 or two, a few of the various Micromatics, and a GEM Feather Weight, Push Button, Contour and G-Bar. As a start.

If "need" were the criterion around here, TSD would be nearly empty. Just sayin' :innocent

I know exactly how you feel and as long as you don't hurt yourself or anyone else by splurging on some extra razors I say go for it.

I went through some rather aggressive purchase sprees, but have now adopted a rule that works for me:
    "Don't buy a new one - of anything - unless it's a replacement"

To me that means I can't buy another soap until I've used up one, another razor until I've sold or given away one, etc, etc.

It has been working for over a month now and I will do my very best to stick to it :)

    It does leave me with a 'collection' of;
Razors: About 15 of them (of which I only use 3-4 on a very regular basis),
    Soaps/Creams: About 20
Blades: Enough to keep me shaving for a year
Brush: Four (of which I only use my SOC Boar brush)
Aftershaves: About 10 (of which I only really use 3-4 of them)

I do feel kinda 'boring' in that I have zero things in my eBay watchlist or on its way to me...but on the other hand it also feels liberating in a way :)

The EJ89 is a solid daily shaver. If you can't find a Fatboy, think about a Slim or Super Adjustable aka Black Beauty. Since you are a head shaver, the long handle 109 Black Beauty may be a super option.

:signs021:I hear what your saying, learning to de shave and enjoying it is probably the cheapest hobby I have ever had. And trying different razors and blade and creams and soap and bowls and brushes and,and,and,- we'll you get the point. What a blast. So when I think of all the things I used put my money into this is a cake walk.

I like your policy. Eight years ago, my wife and I got rid of 50% of everything we owned. It was out of necessity, but it was also quite freeing. Of course, we've managed to replace a great deal of what we got rid of. We're now trying to live by a policy of "If you bring something home, get rid of two similar items." Today I told SWMBO, "I need to pick up a couple different grits of sandpaper." She said, "Does that mean you'll get rid of four other grits?" I guess we still have to work out the details.

It's definitely less expensive than fly fishing/fly tying. Or photography.

Too late! I do need to winnow down the stash of razors a bit. I have successfully done this with DE razors (currently only have less than a half-dozen).
Unfortunately, soaps and straight razors have been my Achilles— over 3 dozen of each—so obviously I need to enact some restraint. Hmm...maybe I'm talking to the wrong crowd here? :D

    .....or guitars.

Yeah...and I thought Golf was expensive. It doesn't hold a candle to photography.
But then again...I never made money playing golf :))
