Cream or soap, I bowl lather. I just like mixin' up a nice bowl of frothy frothy lather. But tonight, I decided to go the other way and face lather for the first time. I used Proraso Green, and way too much. I squirted it out into my bowl, wetted my face, dabbed my brusing into the lump of cream and face lathered. It went very well. Not frothy, but thick and slick. Had a great shave. Not BBS, but a nice DFS for sure. I think I need to experiment with this now...

I have been face-lathering much more (daily) in the last 3 months than I have in all my previous years of wet-shaving. I find it easier (i.e. less painful) on my wrist than bowl lathering and faster to develop good thick lather.
Additionally, there's less clean-up afterwards. It is a welcome variation for this bowl-latherer. :happy088:

Take a dollop of Proraso on your finger tip and dab it on your cheeks and chin. Then shake your brush and go to work. Invigorating...

It's what I do to face lather my shaving creams that come in a tube :). Not as fun as loading from a puck or tub but works just as well in the end.

Do you face latherers, who obviously no longer use a scuttle, keep a mouthful of hot water to warm your lather?

I will have to try that. I use shaving soap and I seem to lather it up in my mug. I don't use Shaving Creams, I have a tube of it maybe I will try it.

    very funny video.

I face lather all the time, just load the brush up and go straight on the face. you can get really quick at it too.

    Ralph,

I do not face lather. But what you do sounds like just the opposite to what I would do.
Where has my thinking become twisted?

Just different as all. Nothing wrong there. YMMV as they say.

You could try rubbing the soap on your face directly and then lathering up.

I'm a face latherer only. I either put dabs of cream on my face, or put some on my brush and then lather til I'm satisfied.

Face lathering and soap sticks - just can't get into either one.

    But that's me.
