Have you tried U.K. ebay in your search for vintage razors? Then there are UFO razor handles out of Spain...Some other makers in America are Weber,Tradere,ATT and Griestshaving(like UFO they just make handles at this time), iKon is made in Thailand.....Alot of the other razors are made in Turkey,Pakistan,India and China.... Here the EJ is much more inexpensive than Muhle, even though,except for possibly the new R41, they are basically the same razor head...Really sorry to hear "traditional" shaving isn't bigger in Europe..Have you searched middle european countries? I have a Lux SS 3 piece razor from Hungary I think...
I'm not really in to the whole vintage market, yet. I just really like the products from the little guys. I love supporting the underdog, and most of the time they take huge pride in their work and are a dream to "work with" if you know what I mean. They love answering questions about their product, and why shouldn't they, they made it. They want to succeed, they got a whole other level of motivation than the random employee at one of the huge corporations. I think I need to start looking up other European brands, never heard of Lux. As I said, I havn't been doing this for too long
No doubt there is a lot of hidden gems on the vintage market in Europe - and often at very good prices. I am going to Bulgaria this summer and am really looking forward to dive into their flea markets and antique stores. Hopefully some interesting Soviet-era stuff is waiting to be discovered.
I see a lot of soviet era DE razors coming out of Hungary and Bulgaria on ebay, but they all seem to be poorly made copies of western razors Spain, France and Germany have more "original content" from what i've seen. If you're interrested in antiques, i hope you're not going to Sunny Beach?
No way - I'm more into culture and nature. We will be seing lots of mountains in the southern part of Bulgaria this time.
Don't want to hijack the thread, but... Yeah, the girlfriend wanted to go there and lay around on the beach all day. Everything is owned by the mob and the locals pull your sleeves every ten feet to make you buy something. I didn't want to stay at a hotel filled with drunk scandinavian kids, so i found a b&b type place in Nessebar 5 mins. south of the Beach. WOW! That place is beautiful. 3000yr old Thracian settlement, it's a UNESCO world heritage site and filled with wonderful wooden houses. We still had to go to Sunny Beach every day and i never saw anything shave related, but at least i got to see Nessebar
In St. Charles MO, there is a British Tea Shop. Carries only EJ razors, mugs etc. Nothing Kent, or Michell's Wool Fat, or that high dollar stuff from Scotland.
