Like the price, performance and the scent. Also gotta love vintage lather face guy on the label - he seems so happy....lol
There is an imprint of him on the Arko soap in the tub. After a few uses, he's gone now. I kind of miss him!
I do like Arko quite a bit. Great lather, great value, the scent doesn't bother me. I do prefer other soaps like Tabac or MWF, but you can't argue with the quality and great price. Also, the Arko guy is one of the greatest icons of shaving. Much better than that shifty Camelot guy
Gotta jump in and add my love for this Turkish delight. Arko can't let me down. I put some M Bomb in it the other day and took it to the next level. It really has shown me that not only are inexpensive soaps totally capable of holding their own against much, much more expensive products; it's also confirmed that foreign markets, especially those where guys have tough beards, are a great place to find top-notch soaps and creams. India is another market with such a great range of creams. I want to try them all but right now my tub of Arko has been my go-to for the past few weeks. Incredible stuff.
I have had a little bit of trouble getting a slick lather out of Arko. But I think I know what I'm doing wrong. I need less soap, more water =)
Arko is greatness. I've been using it daily for our No Buy July as part of my technique building exercises. Arko, and a fat handled Tech, all month long. I am pretty sure the two tubs of Proraso I have are going to be PIFed.
I recently got two sticks from the bay for $3.91 and free shipping. I really dislike rubbing sticks on my face so I grated one into a Ziplock container and have used it three times now. While it won't replace vintage Williams as number 1 it is right up there in the top three. Great, great lather and I really like the scent. Highly recommended, and I will be stocking up!
If you have a local Turkish market sometimes they will stock it too. EBay has a lot of places direct from Turkey though that charge very little and like Tom said ship for free.
I need to give Arko another chance. I'm gonna use tomorrow =D maybe I'll put a drop or two of menthol additive
I can use Arko with no problem. The stick I have has almost no scent because I purposely let it air out for a couple months before I used it. I avoided it for about a year before I finally tried it. But there are still soaps I like more.
Just don't fall in love with the Arko Man imprinted on the pucks. After reading some of the slightly disturbing threads above, it sounds as if he's already taken....
