...and now for something completely different
Today I tried B&M Roam for the first time. In the container, it smells to me like leather, cigar tobacco (not the flower), and an earthy moss. Lathered on my face, it smells more like I'm smoking a backwoods cigar, clad in leather, using moss for a pillow as I doze around a campfire. It's interesting how this scent changes, at least for my nose. I'm unsure if I like it or not... I don't think the scent will linger, but it pairs well with Fine Platinum so far.

The performance of the Roam is excellent, just like other B&M tallow soaps. My face feels smooth and the shave was easy and comfortable. I really think my SC101 is the one razor for me... I'll try other razors in pass arounds occasionally, and I'll still use my Old Type and MR10 from time to time, but this one just hits the spot for me. I've seen the teasers for new iKon razors, and they look cool, but my 101 is near optimal at this point. I know, famous last words...

    Prep: RR/HTGAM lime menthol
    Soap: Barrister and Mann Roam
    Brush: Plisson Synthetic
    Razor: iKon ShaveCraft 101
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue
    AS: Fine Platinum

hot water prep with nivea men
    Parker pure badger
    Coates rose
    Merkur 34c hd
    persona lab(3)
    nivea men's original
today I figured why change a good thing. wanted to switch back to morning's, so I had an easy two pass+ touch up to a bbs. I wanted to do if Coates rose was as good as the one John sent me. scent was the same the lather was good but not as, but still very good. the Parker has become one of my favorite brushes. feel like a million bucks holding this thing. went back to my persona lab, cause it's what I like, paired with the heavy duty. it's mild but it works.( and I did shave last night ).
finished with nivea men original, mixes nice with the rose

    FRIDAY the 13th
Early morning shave today; broke out the big-bladed BBB.
IK cream makes a very nice, shea butter-based lather that rivals pretty much any good soap for skin moisturizing properties.
No post-shave balm needed; just a refreshing bay rum splash!
    Have a wonderful Friday, everyone!

    Pre: Shave Secret
    Brush: GBS Pure Boar
    Soap: Headblade Headslick
    Razor: Gillette Super Speed
    Blade: Gillette Wilkinson Sword (2)
    Splash: Aqua Velva Ice Blue
    Post: Nivea Sensitive AS
    After: Pacific Shaving Moisturizer

Back to BBS! The Wilkinson performed great! Smooth close shave, no weepers or tugging. I went back in time and grabbed the shaving “cream” that I started head shaving with back in the beginning – Headslick by Headblade. Turns out Headslick lathers super well with a badger brush and bowl! Who knew? Plus I had forgotten it has a nice menthol kick to it. I can still feel it a good 15 minutes after my shave. I like it! Its going into the rotation until the bottle is empty. Don’t know if I’d buy more, but I really enjoyed it today. I couldn’t bring myself yo use the Headblade razor again though.. I just keep it as a memento of how I got started shaving… ahh the memories.. ;)

    Happy Friday the 13th
    Today's shave:

    Prep: Gaia face scrub
    Oil: Shave Secret
Brush: 20mm Whipped dog set deep
Razor: slim adjustable set to 4 (I really wish they made a 3.5 setting)
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
    soap:

    Pre de Provence
    mixed with a touch of
    Rose of Bulgaria(face lathering today)

    Post: Alum sprayed on
Witch Hazel: Generic scented with rose oil
    AS: Sampsons all natural

Very nice shave today. The Pre de Provence mixed well with the Rose of Bulgaria. Very slick, cushioned and well scented.

The Gillette Silver Blue has come through 2 shaves so far with good results. Hopefully, it will make it through 4 shaves.

    Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion
Razor: EJ DE89 Head w/ Weber Classic Handle
    Blade: Personna Lab (2)
    Lather: Cella
    Brush: Oscar11 w/ Omega 20248 Knot
    Post: Witch Hazel
    Aftershave: Old Spice

DFS+ shave today. There's something about this blade that isn't quite right, but whatever it is only affects one side of the blade. This is the second time I've used this blade. I noticed the problem yesterday, but thought maybe it was my imagination. I used it again today and it still felt not quite right. It gave a very nice shave without any irritation or nicks, but it just felt weird. I think it will go in the trash and a new Personna Lab will be used tomorrow.

    Have a great day!

Post: cold water rinse and Captain's Choice Lime

I've had facial hair of some sort since June of 1983. For the most part, it has been at least a mustache, sometimes with a goatee or as part of a full beard. This little wet shaving adventure convinced me to shave off my goatee a few months ago. I decided to grow it back starting today. So, I had to take a little more care to make sure and get things lined up. Other than that, today's shave was excellent, 2 passes plus a little touch up on the neck and I was good to go. Since my third pass always deals with the chin and lower neck, I didn't need the chin pass and the lower neck is almost completely smooth.
    Have a great weekend all.

Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG) plus touch ups
    Post: Witch Hazel

I'm not sure how I feel about the Gillette Blue blade. It seems to have a short lifespan... I have gotten up to seven shaves out of a blade in the past. Normally I'll stop after four shaves shaves, which is what I got from the Gillette Blue. The Gillette Blue was done before I finished today's shave. With the extra touch ups I've been doing with the blue I may have reduced the life of the blade. To be fair to the blue, none of the touch ups were needed to get a DFS,i was always looking for more. If I came across some blues for the right price I'm sure I'd pick them up, but I don't think I'd go out looking for one.

The Freddie let me down this morning; after a WTG, XTG and ATG pass there was still some persistant stubble. Time to take Freddie to the Hones and teach him a lesson. The Rooney/Voskhod combo dispatched any tenacious stubble with one ATG pass and all is well in the great Pacific Northwest once again. (The echo's from my rich superlatives has long since subsided throughout the valley.) :D
I love the Jasmine scent from this SS and the Royal Copenhagen Musk was the perfect finish. Have a great weekend Gentlemen! :happy005:
