I substitute for teachers in a school on the side, it's a school with a lot it troubled children. I hope I could feel that I make a positive change, but it doesn't feel like I make a difference. I don't know, maybe I do =)
Couldn't figure out why I had a hard time with my straight razor shave the other day and happened to hit up the Doc. Might have rotator cuff damage that doesn't necessarily require surgery or end my career but it isn't getting better in the least. Love my straight razors but love my shoulders just that much more...
You hit it on the head. I am ready to retire after 32 years, but it is a bit hard to say farewell to the profession that has been my calling for so long. I will miss my students (well...most of them) but I won't miss getting up before dawn & dragging myself to work in heavy snow, on days when school should have been closed.
The plan is to have a driving license before summer break ends. =) which is within 2 months =D My girlfriend and I bought a car for this cause haha. For About $1000. It was a great find actually, we will have this car for about 3-4 years hopefully = It was either this or a 2 week vacation in Thailand. It was a hard choice HAHAHA
Had a red letter day with the missus. We went to eat at Jason's Deli, where I enjoyed an excellent gluten free pastrami and swiss, then perused a local museum where I got to see Dali's "Alice in Wonderland" illustrations, an actual Audubon Elephant edition print book, a couple of Rembrandts, some Roden sculptures, and several other well known artists' works. Then, we stopped at a Fred's Dollar Store, and I picked up a five pack of Peter Sellers movies for $6. Yup, it was a pretty swell day, indeed.
Oh dear... think carefully about this... ... I mean, it's kinda like your wife joining the club with you, no? All your secrets will soon be known. Tho, I am now looking forward to the posts that begin with "When Dapper was a little boy...."
I envision the scene. Rich sitting in an overstuffed leather chair with classical music playing in the background like Alistair Cooke ready to interview Dap's Dad! Dap's Dad is seated in another overstuffed leather chair. Both are smoking pipes and a gentle tobacco haze is wafting through the room. Rich proceeds to ask the question, "What was it like when young master Dap was but a lad?" Before Dap's Dad answers a country band starts playing and then he starts up saying with the beat, "When Dapper was a lad ..." I can see it now, history in future tense!
At the moment, young Master Dapper's future is very tense. <evil laugh> Dignity? You checked that at the door when you signed up. Didn't you read the fine print?
