Altoid Tin. 16 months of DE shaving, tin is close to half full. Eventually I'll take them to a metal recycler.
You can probably get a large plastic pill bottle at a pharmacy for next to nothing (mine gave me one). Cut a slit with a dremel or an old hot knife, then glue the lid shut. Decorate to your hearts content. Or find a coin bank at your local dollar store.
I just put them in the plastic box that come with some brands of blades for the moment. I already have at least 15 in the bottom slow of a used derby blades box. I can probably fit at the very least 70 more in the top slot. I have about 8 of those boxes at the moment so even if I stick with Astras for the rest of my life I won't have to worry about blade banks for a while. And when I'm done with them I can just put the blades in the small cardboard boxes the Astras come in and then tape them when I'm about to dispose of them. I don't really see the need for a blade bank unless it's a neat looking one. Are there some brands that don't come in boxes?
An inexpensive Blade Bank from WCS. It is only $1, so next time you stock up on blades or cream just add one to your cart. http://www.westcoastshaving.com/Double-Edge-Blade-Bank_p_45.html
Right now I put them in the "used blade" slot in the back of the blade package. But you can literally use anything that closes safely with a lid. You can use an old mayo jar or even an empty soda or juice bottle.
I keep them in a brass vintage casing Unfortunately in Greece the recycle isn't so popular as in other countries.
Too cute for words…. I found this old treasure chest bank hold about a twenty or so before it becomes challenging to insert another used blade. That's okay as that'll last me about 4 months...
I just toss them in the bath tub. I figure by the time it fills up I'll be looking to sell the house and it will become the next owners problem.
LOL Never thought of doing that. I could drop them in the shower drain. I figure being as the Shower is upstairs. The is about 9 feet to the main drain out in the wall. my luck it would plug up the drain in the shower and I would have a heck of a time getting them out. Or I could call the Roto Rooter Man.
I use one of the same tin cans I use for my soaps and store them in my drawer. I like the looks of the real blade banks, but I'm not much for displaying more than necessary. Less is more.
I use an empty Parmesan Cheese container. Works great. Just chuck the whole thing in the trash when I'm done with it. In NJ where I live law allows this.
Blade bank works good, some packages have blade slots in them. I am diabetic, so I put them in the same container that I put my needles in, then return the container to the drug store. Where I am you can get the diabetic needle containers for free, and the drug stores will take them back to burn. Outside of a taped up blade package (I have seen the blades fall out) or a blade bank carefully disposed of this is the only other solution I have heard.
