The tournament has ended. I had lots of fun. My team came in 7th of nine, which is up from my usual dead last, so I'm pretty happy. We celebrated with pizza tonight.
I really need to wear my glasses when reading TSD. sigh. I read that as, "the TORMENT... I had lots of fun." As for 7 of 9... hubba hubba...
Well, I clearly have ASAD- archery stuff acquisition disorder. A friend gave me a very generous gift certificate to Lancaster Archery for my birthday/retirement. So we went to Lancaster this weekend & bought a whole bunch of stuff. The rest & wrist sling are new.
We are doing more outdoor shooting now. Here is our escort, Robin Bear I am starting to get used to shooting at 30 meters. This is the custom quiver my husband gave me for a retirement gift.
Thanks Mike! Of course, shooting outdoors means losing some arrows. So I got a small metal detector designed for finding them. It came today.
Block targets are cheap & portable, but sit directly on the ground. In order to raise them up a bit, my husband & I made some risers for them, with milk crates, thick wood screws, washers, and gutter mesh. Pics a bit later.
I haven't shot a bow since the late '80s. We had a fantastic range in Long Beach CA. In fact that range was the 84 Olympics venue for archery if memory serves. I would probably be killed in a burning bed if I acquired a new, expensive hobby though.
OK now for some pics; Materials- block target, milk crate, 6 large washers, 6 wood screws with hex heads, socket wrench adapter, drill Turn the target upside-down. Use a drill to put in the wood screws, placed as shown. As you can see, the riser stays in place nicely. If you are only a fair shot (like me) this last step can be very helpful. Using gutter mesh & zip ties, I covered the outside of the crate, in case I miss by shooting low. BTW, this cost about 12 bucks per target. I got the materials at Lowes & Home Depot.
