sol92258 I have no earthly idea

no prob, Bob...of course, for countless viewings the song went unnoticed by me, I don't know why, it could be the scene immediately there after...

I just read through this thread rather quickly, so I apologize if I repeat a previous entry.

I seem to recall Jack Nicholson getting a barber shave in Chinatown, but I could be wrong. I know there was a scene in a barber shop.

Edward G. Robinson gets a straight razor shave from one of his men in Key Largo.

Anthony Quinn shaving with a straight in The Guns of Navarone

Short scene of William Holden shaving with a straight in Bridge on the River Kwai

I seem to remember Harrison Ford shaving with a cartridge in Frantic

Wallace Beery lathered his face in Dinner at Eight

Kirk Douglas as Vincent van Gogh cut off his ear with a straight in Lust for Life

The famous scene in the (original) CSI series where Sara shaves Grissom with a straight

Update. I'm watching Chinatown right now on TCM. Jack Nicholson was in a barber chair getting lathered, but they didn't show the shave.

Thank you. One of the few things I can remember these days.

Fortunately, I saw all of these recently, except for Lust for Life and CSI. But those two were memorable. It's amazing that I notice shaving scenes more now than I did before.

I'm sitting here watching Blazing Saddles on AMC right now, and it's funny because the shaving scene was just on and I was mentioning to my wife how fast Gene Wilder was shaving at like a REVERSE 30 degree angle, almost like he was stropping on his face. Funny stuff.

This may have been mentioned already but I will mention it again. Yesterday I was watching The Natural and there is a scene in which the NY Nights baseball managers are shaving. One with a DE and other with a straight.

Since several TV series have been mentioned, here are two that I've seen in the past week:

'Allo 'Allo (watched on DVD): Episode 6 or 7 of Season (series) 5- Rene, the cafe owner, shaves with a straight razor during his customary opening monologue summarizing the previous episode.

7 Days (shown now on the SciFi channel weekday afternoons): In the opening scene of the pilot episode, the soon-to-be hero, Frank Parker, shaves with a Gillette Black Handle Superspeed.

There is a quick flash of a scene in Slumdog millionare where a fellow is getting a straight shave about 8 minutes into the movie.

To continue the Battlestar Galactica theme, Gaius Baltar was shaving with a straight razor in this weeks episode.

HORRIBLY! Once again another example of inappropriate straight razor usage in film.

I don't know anything about the techniques of straights, but even I could tell he was doing it all wrong. It was painful as hell to watch him hack and scrape at his face and neck.

In the movie "NEXT" Nicolas Cage uses a DE.

Also, Mira Sorvino in "THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS" wears a DE
    blade on her necklace

Curly also uses a safety razor on "Hoi Polloi" (1935). You can find it on hulu dot com.

Has anyone mentioned Sexy Beast? Ben Kingsley shaves with a disposable twin blade. The sound of the blade running over his beard is excruciating! He is a man clearly used to getting a quality shave and is pissed that he has to come to Spain to convince Ray Winstone to come out of retirement for one last heist. As he shave, he works up his temper to a fury. Great scene.

Chick flick western: The Ranger, The Cook, and the Hole in the Sky

There is a scene where three or four men are standing outside in the cold by an old water pump and trough. They have brushes, lather, mirrors, and appear to be trying to shave across the grain with dull razors - ouch!!
