Well, I couldn't stand it any longer and had to take my Vie Long horse apart. I've been pleasantly surprised with it's performance. I have combed it out 3 times but the only time it has been necessary is after the first use when I had a "tangle hole" in the knot. One thing I've noticed by combing it out is that I don't get many full length hairs. Most of the hairs are broken and I'm combing as delicately as possible. Not many hairs have come out of the knot either. I've enjoyed this brush quite a bit. Is it better than a badger or boar, nope, just a little different but I certainly don't think it's worse either. I like it. The only thing I would question would be durability and I don't have the time with a horse to comment on that. I find myself using this brush a little differently than my boars, again, treating them more delicately but if it's necessary, I don't know. The white & black handle might be used for this knot even though it isn't proportioned right and I'll drop the loft a few mm but not much I think this brush was very close. It's in the name of science anyway and I suspect there will be a brown horse hair knot coming my way soon. P. S. The handle hasn't been finished completely it need some sanding and polishing yet.
That brings tears to my eyes, both good and bad. I had an unbleached Vie-Long but I dropped it and the handle broke. I tried to salvage the knot but there removing the resin was testing my patience. I wish I had kept it. I must say though that is a thing of beauty.
Thanks. I have a 2 toned tulip style handle in my head that I'd like to make for this knot but I'm having a hard time getting to the lathe. I've been way to busy. Good point, I haven't done a give away in awhile. I'll try to do one this month. I did a search on google for holidays in July. I'll post something next weekend in the freebie section. July 29: National Lasagna Day would be a good day for a drawing.
Very, very nice! I like the proportions just the way they are. Say, was Sparky in on this one? It's kind of his colour scheme, no?
It is his color scheme but he was helping weed the flowers with Mom, lol. I usually just toss them, most are the inexpensive Omegas. The majority are cut out, not pulled.
I recently steamed out these horse knots, because they irritated my face. Im going to try and have the handles re-knotted with some badger. Im not sure if. anyone would be interested in the knot just let me know.
