NSOTD Thursday 7-31-2014 (No Shave Day)

Got up and on the road way too early this morning to shave. Made it to the middle of nowhere and will continue to nowhere tomorrow.
I have been trying to get some info on the MLB trades made before the deadline but this place only get two channels on the TV the Farm reports and Dr. Phil! :D
Picking up some info on the internet but not too much there.
I will probably shave later tonight just to have something to do for entertainment. :sleep025: (Totally bored!) :(

    Thayers Cucumber WH
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Cheap Soap Month is over, and now I'm going to use some not-so-cheap soap, starting with TABAC. The TABAC face-lathered very well with my Frank Shaving finest badger brush and provided a great cushion and slickness for an excellent shave. Two passes with my Gillette Super Speed '47 and DORCO Platinum ST300 blade left me with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I applied Thayers Cucumber WH and Aqua Velva Ice Blue after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    FRIDAY
    Late Night Thurs shave
To welcome in the new month, I opted to use my first straight razor: a 1930s Böker & Co. 5/8 Solingen Square-Point. The more I use other straights, the more I've come to appreciate the simple elegance and well-crafted design of this razor. It just feels right in the hands. Super smooth shaver. Definitely a keeper! I added a splash of Menthol M-Bomb to the Cade for a refreshing twist as well. A recent thread on the Ogallala gave me the notion to use the BR Peppercorn & Lime AS lotion. Great shave!

Have a blessed First Day of August, gents!

Being as it's hotter than blue blazes and the humidity is not as bad as yesterday, I took my shower again tonight and just got done shaving ! I again used the Above the Tie M-1 Razor. I did use the WTG-XTG-ATG method again tonight. I have used it everyday this past week and it seems to be working well for me. Last night, I did not get a "Rudy Castiel Clean Used Car" aka Rudy Castiel Clean Shave agin I thought it might be my technique, But I don't think so. If I was doing something wrong I might have been getting a Blood Letting. With my ATT M-1 Razor, Using this method so why change, what works.I did get a DFS Shave I will put an new Razor Blade in tomorrow. I do like the cooling effect of the Alum Block, or Witch Hazel. I will go as far to say I do have razor burn, in places on my lower neck still feel raw. So I did go ahead and use both and put some on after my shower, and will use the Alum again it the morning. I will use this razor until Sunday.
But depending on just how Lazy I get between now and Saturday Morning, Both Saturday and Sunday will be NO Shave Days, Then for sure on Monday, I will go back to using my Weber. I know there is such a thing as the 30 Day rule, I think maybe I will not follow that rule. I didn't buy anything for the Last Thirty one days.

There's no doubt about it - the Glacial Wintergreen is definitely my favourite of ALL soaps, bar none. I love everything about it - the lather, the scent, everything. Its menthol effect feels like the icy-cold water I rinse off with and the skincare is perfect. The corresponding witch hazel has that same freeze and skincare to it and its scent doesn't ever clash with a cologne or an eau de toilette. This shave was so BBS and enjoyable with almost no effort. ;) :D

Have a great weekend, folks! :)

    today's shave
hot water wash with nivea men's
    Parker pure badger
    L'OCCITANE cade
    fatip Grande
    persona lab(1)
    Florida water
today's shave was anticipated for a month. late in June I got a puck of cade. it was delivered on the fourth of July, while I was in no buy July. I also traded a razor for a razor during the month. the point was not to buy new items, to use the items we already had. so I putthese items away.I felt they were contrary to the spirit of no buy July.
but now it's August. the cade performed well, but I found it to be lacking in scent. the fatip was paired with a new lab, it seemed like a fine razor, but still required three passes and touch up. but I am very very close if not bbs.I finished with Florida water, it burned a bit. might hita balm before I leave the house.
mostly I'm happy with my anticipated shave.
hope y'all fulfill your anticipations or asperations today 20140801_070116.jpg

    Prep: hot shower
    Razor: Slim Twist
    Blade: Feather (day 1)
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Soap: Col Conk lime
Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG) + touch ups
    Post: Witch Hazel

I've been getting some really great lather from the Col Conk, and today was no different. I loaded up a Feather and was able to get a very comfortable DFS after two passes and minor touch ups on my jaw line. I'm still getting irritation with my final cold water rinse, so I just went with witch hazel for post shave.

    Bavu frame back
    Lea Classic
    homemade boar
    Fine Clean Vetiver
Nice shave this morning. I'll reserve comment on the Lea Classic until I have a few more shaves with it. I will say it has a nice scent, is slick and has a light menthol effect. I feel the lather isn't the best but that could be operator error. The lather is prolific just not the type I prefer. Have a good one.

Nice, easy shave to end the workweek. I could tell during my 3rd pass that the blade is spent. I still got great results, though.
