    Sunday:

Prep: Hot shower, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm, Healthy Accents Daily Renewal facial cleanser
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: RazoRock Cumba Cheech
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Perma-Sharp Super (3)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (5, 6)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, RazoRock Cumba Cheech ASL
Cologne: Le 3emme de Caron by Caron

I skipped shaving on Saturday due to a case of the lazies, and then this morning's muzzy-headedness nearly had me skip the facial cleanser step. Instead, I wound up using it after the application of the preshave balm, rather than as I usually do it, before. This meant the preshave balm was much more thoroughly rinsed off than ever before, and I must admit, it seemed to make lathering a bit easier for the first pass. The Perma-Sharp is holding up pretty well, and I got a very nice DFS out of the process, while the combination of the orange blossom and jasmine in the Cumba Cheech with the jasmine and clove notes in the cologne makes for a very interesting 'spiced oranges' scent that brings to mind the upcoming harvest season.

This shave was not the absolute best it could have been but I attribute that to my Rapira blade being pretty well at the end. I still managed a good DFS result which left me comfortable as well as quite smooth. As always, the MITA soap (thanks again so much, Ryan!) delivered beautifully on the super-rich lather as well as the cooling effect, and the great skincare. The 444 balm's moisturizing effect is such a plus besides how cooling it is and that damned Glacial Wintergreen witch hazel is an absolute must if you're a menthol freak like myself. ;) :D

Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Scots Pine Bath Soap
    Soap: Maggard-Bergamot & Limes

Maggard B&L today: “Top 5”! Excellent quick, thick lather with a great scent. The Slim and Polsilver held up their end for a great smooth, close, and nick free shave. I finished up with Fine Platinum.

    SOTD August 3 - Straight Razor-a-thon

Prep: hot shower, Proraso white preshave
Razor: G. Wostenholm and Son CANUCK
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Soap: Arko shave stick
    Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG)
    Post: Proraso white AS balm

Today's shave was an early on for me, at least for a Sunday. The family headed out for their vacation at 6:00AM. I was awake and had the house to myself, so I figured I might as well start the day off right. I started out with 75 laps on the strop, then a hot shower while I soaked my brush. Five minutes with preshave on my face, and it was time to face lather the Arko. My brush had cooled off ( i soak it in hot water), this gave the lather a cool refreshing feeling which was nice. After two passes, I'm came out with a something between SAS and DFS. No nicks, cuts or irritation. I finished off with Proraso white AS balm. It been awhile since I've use the Proraso white, I'd forgotten how nice it is.

°Left side of face, short comb NEW. Right side, long comb NEW
°Both used the same fresh Big Ben blade and the same cap and bar handle. Only the base plates differed
°William clone soap with Omega brush

The biggest differences were the SC's louder feedback and a tiny bit more perception of the blade's bite. Also, the short comb did appear to take off a bit more beard in one pass than the LC did. Afterwards, though, hand-feel tells me they ended up shaving pretty much the same. Visibly, there's no difference. So I guess the SC is (imo) just a touch more aggressive but negligibly so. The results themselves are a wash. I used a lighter touch this time than last, so only DFS but no irritation.

°Menthol alum witch hazel followed by Brut Splash.

to be fair to the test. you should switch, and retest.
I find it more difficult to shave the right side than the left.
    just a thought.

Thanks for the comparison. I never have my act together enough to try both of mine in the same shave.

That's a good idea. It could make a difference. Editing my op to remind myself which side was which in a few days.

    Shave of the day

Pre- Hot shower + homemade PSO

    Soap/cream- Stirling Clubman

    Brush- Plisson synthetic

    Razor- Mühle R89

    Blade- Astra SP

Post- Cold water rinse, Old spice whitewater and Nivea ASB

Stirling shave soap doesnt let you down. It provided awesome slick lather. Loaded to little soap at first but went back to the soap and then had great lather in no time. 3 passes 1 WTG and 2 XTG different directions.

The stirling clubman scent was interesting. I need to use it again to say what I think of it. Interesting good though.

I did some buffing on my chin. I did get a closer shave but not entirely without a burning sensation. @RaZorBurn123

I did get some tugging under my lower lip which is a bit weird. But it might have been because I was overly gentle =P

Went all out with the Naud today; shampoo, deodorant, talcum, shave soap and aftershave. First time using WSO "The Naud" and it is a dead ringer to the aftershave in aroma and received a fantastic two pass shave with this highly regarded shave soap and GSB loaded Fatboy.
