What a nice face-freezing shave I have planned for tomorrow! ;)

    Menthol Monday:

Gatsby Ice Cooling Gel Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/new Rapira
Stirling Glacial Wintergreen SS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    444 AS Balm :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Stirling Glacial Wintergreen WH :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Dolce & Gabbana EdT

Unless you can tolerate intense menthol, don't and I repeat DON'T use this set-up because every item is extremely cold. The Gatsby facial wash starts the ball rolling, the Glacial Wintergreen soap is so cold that it feels like shaving in a freezer, the 444 balm is also plenty icy, and the Glacial Wintergreen witch hazel out-freezes even the Rubby Dubby Doo. No way will I sweat tomorrow! ;) :D

    Cold Water Shave

    Dove Men's Face Wash
    TOBS Lavender Shaving Cream
    Semogue 1305 Boar Brush
    Schick Eversharp I2 Hydro-Magic
    Schick Stainless
    CWR
    Thayers Rose Petal WH
    Mennen Skin Bracer AS

Today, I shaved completely with cold water again. The TOBS Lavender Shaving Cream face-lathered very easily with my Semogue 1305 Boar brush. Two passes with my Schick Eversharp I2 Hydro-Magic and a Schick Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. I had lots of lather left over. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Mennen Skin Bracer after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... What a nice shave! I'm liking this cold water shaving.

I am very impressed with the new standard every bit as good as the new handle long comb of the 1930's the shave cream is a keeper just as good as my A/A soap blend, all in all had a very nice shave today. 5 weepers and one cut nothing the stepic?pencil couldn't handle.

    Menthol Monday:

Prep: Hot shower, Healthy Accents Daily Renewal facial cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Soap: Ginger's Garden Grass Stain Menthol Snow
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Big Ben SS (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (4, 5)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS splash
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

I paid a little more attention to loading my brush this AM, but I still could have made a third pass had I been of a mind to. As close a shave as I got yesterday, and as good a product as the Ginger's Garden is at setting my whiskers up for being cut down, there was simply no need. Two passes produced a frozen face and a DFS+ shave, though the alum indicated there was a spot on my cheek the blade's corner may have caught. I like the audio feedback on the Big Ben, probably more than the Perma-Sharp, but it seems to come at a relative cost of longevity.

    SOTD August 11 - Straight Razor-a-thon

    Vacation shave

    Menthol Monday

    Prep: hot shower
Razor: G. Wostenholm and Son Celebrated I.XL
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Cream: Proraso Green
    Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG)

So the whole point of my straight Razor-a-thon was to see if I had enough time to get a straight razor shave done dude the week without changing my schedule. That menthol waking up at the same time and finish shaving and getting ready for work with time left over to catch the bus. Today was probably the first real test, and I'm pleased to say I would not have missed the bus!

The shave itself not rushed or shortened to fit in the time window either.

I don't know if I have a bad batch, but I've just to expect zero cooling from the Proraso Green. It is still a good soap so I take it out for Menthol Mondays every once and awhile. Today was no different with its cooling attributes (or lack of). Still a great lather that helped lead to a great DFS! The 444 more then made up for the Proraso Greens lack of cooling. It took a bit for my eyes to stop watering!

    Monday

Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Cocoa Butter Bath Soap
    Soap: Cella
Razor: Gillette Super Speed Red Tip
    Blade: Gillette Platinum (3)
    Brush: oscar11 TGN 2-Band Finest-24mmx50mm
    Aftershave: Fine American Blend

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angles for my beard)

I followed the RR Classic with Cella today to compare them. Most people would not pass a “Blind Shave Test” between the two. The RR Classic is a bit softer than Cella. They both produce very similar top quality thick, cushioning lather. The Red Tip and Platinum certainly did their part again. Great smooth, close, nick free shave. I finished with Fine American Blend.

After a great shave this morning, I'm ready for a 4-day workweek. This was my 2nd attempt with the Gem Jr. and it did just as well this time as last. I now see why so many like SE razors. I'm definitely a believer.

    Have a great day!

    Prep: Gaia face scrub
    Oil: Shave Secret
Brush: 20mm Whipped dog set deep
    Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery
    Razor: 1912 EverReady SE
    Blade: Gem Blue Star
    soap: Pre de Provence
    Post: alum sprayed on
    Witch Hazel: Generic unscented

Today I made two mistakes that resulted in obtaining only a fair shave. My first mistake is that I was tired of my daily french soap mix and decided to use only Pre de Provence. While it is a very good soap, it just didn't give me the slickness I get when using my mix. The second mistake I made was that I used my blade for the 5th time. The shave was noticeably rough and not near as close as it should have been. I will attempt to use the next blade 5 times, but am quickly loosing hope that I can get more than 4 shaves out of any blade in any razor.

This was a nice smooth and comfortable shave, with a surprise at end. Does anyone else get weepers appearing after the AS is applied? I got two very small ones after I was done cleaning up. Even so, my skin feels good.
