Prunes work better but P&G probably owns them too. :angry019:

Dates are WAY better than prunes IMO, especially stuffed with a couple of roasted almonds. Delicious.

People will still form an opinion of a product after buying it, regardless of the product and regardless of whether or not they investigated alternatives beforehand. If they find the product works well, all is good. If the product is not up to snuff, then they can either sit and grumble or look for alternatives. Those individuals who won't do research are likely to get less than satisfactory results. That holds true for any products, shaving or otherwise.

Large corporations have huge advertising budgets, and can promote questionable but profitable notions. For example, claiming the latest swivel ball Fusion Extraordinaire Megashave Gamer Deluxe razor gives better shaves than anything else. A lot of people get sucked into such advertising. I certainly bought into the Trac II TV commercials when I started shaving. Boycotting P&G products won't change things one bit, however. Extolling the benefits of traditional wetshaving will change things for the better, as it informs others of a viable alternative.

Those P&G prunes would go under the brand name "NewPru" because they cause you to react twice as fast and twice as violently as ordinary everyday prunes!

I guess though that would make standard prunes "Brand X" even though we know what they are.

Ok I'm going to chime in here. I know quite a few people at work who are not the type to research things on the internet (for various reasons) however no wool has ever been pulled over their eyes or anything like that. For most of the products owned by gigantic mega-corporations like Proctor & Gamble, the word of mouth is STILL the route many people take for deciding what to pay for; just because someone doesn't hop on google and go for "Product X Reviews" doesn't mean they aren't making informed decisions. Plus, in the end a large percentage of us still fall to marketing at some point even a little bit to give things a try - unless you're buying 50 years of deodorant and 100 years worth of cleaning supplies in one shot, you're not very likely to get bitten at all. Why? When people like P&G take over a company it rarely changes business models that work, so most batteries, cleaning supplies, cosmetics etc - stay the same and they just end up basically being the overseer of that company. Does it always happen that way? No, but when they cause a product to bomb, word of mouth AND the internet spreads it like wildfire and they pay the price losing brand loyalty.

No I don't work for P&G however I use a lot of the sub-companies products that they own, particularly duracell batteries because in my experience as a soldier they last more than energizer and any other brand I can think of off the top of my head, and about 60000 years longer than Army issued ones that expired back in 1837, and the supply depot purchased them in 1998; delivered for service in 2014.

But what is "better"? To me, anything other than a Feather or Voskhod blade is absolute junk and only a fool would buy something else. I will only buy french soaps. Why? Because they are infinitely better than all of the other soaps - to me. I use a specific aftershave balm. Why? Because everything else is garbage - to me.
