I have to agree with both of you on this about "Cold Water Shaving" I really hated to do it while I was in the Military. But I have done it a lot here of late. I almost prefer to do a cold water shave. I always after my shave use a "Washcloth" on my face that has been soaked in "cold water". I also soak my Alum Block in "Cold Tap Water" and rub it over my face.
I swear, these Glacial soaps are the coldest on Planet Earth. The Lemon Chill smells wonderful and that menthol starts pulverizing your face as soon as you lather up. By the time you finish your shave, you can hardly feel any sensation in your skin. All four Glacial variants have that same unique freezing feeling to them.
Dove Men's Face Wash Cella Crema da Barba Semogue 1305 Boar Brush Schick Eversharp I2 Hydro-Magic NOS Gillette Platinum Plus Injector Blade (3) CWR Thayers Rose Petal WH Mennen Skin Bracer AS The Cella Crema da Barba face-lathered very easily with my Semogue 1305 Boar brush. Two passes with my Schick Eversharp I2 Hydro-Magic and a NOS Gillette Platinum Plus Injector blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. This was the third shave with this great blade. So far, so good. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Mennen Skin Bracer after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Saturday, August 16, 2014 Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion Razor: Gem Junior Blade: CVS Lather: L'Occitane Cade Soap Brush: VDH Boar Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion Aftershave: Old Spice I had all the time in the world tonight to shave, so I took it nice and slow. I finished with an incredible shave. I'm still learning how to shave with the Gem Jr. above my top lip, but I'm getting the hang of it. Other than one small nick under my nose, I got closer than I ever have with a DE. I also have a deep cleft chin (think Kirk Douglas) and always have a little trouble getting every whisker. I've mastered the technique with my DE, but I'm still working on it with the SE. Have a great day!
SATURDAY Late Afternoon Shave Spent a good part of the day out & about—but I was able to get a newly-restored razor honed up for today's shave. This Solingen-made 'Silver Steel' razor, sold by E. Tortolani of Brooklyn, honed up really well. It was probably the loudest straight razor I've used (a 'singing' razor as it mows down whiskers). Happy to report it also took a very smooth edge and the resulting 3-pass shave was very comfortable. Finished it all with a splash of Bay Rum. Hope you all had a great Saturday!
Japanese Gold Rex full hollow 13/16 Kanayama cordovan #8000 Simpsons M6 Mitchell's Wool Fat Alum & Witch Hazel TFS Bergamot & Neroli balm Diptyque Tam Dao EDP.
Marketed alongside the Light (Blue Tip) and the Medium (Flare Tip), the Heavy (Red Tip) was marketed for those who like the feel of a heavy razor or have tough whiskers to mow through. The Heavy was manufactured 1955-1960 (1956 shown) for comparison, the Light was 46g, and the Heavy is 66g. I do enjoy the shave this razor gives. It sure does a good job on my thick beard- but so does the Medium. As for the software, I forgot how nice the VdH soap is! And the aftershave balm the wife got for me is nice. More 'modern' than my norm. Love the blades to!

I did get a BBS Shave on Wednesday night for Thursday. Also I did get a BBS Shave. Again as before I did not have any "Nick's or Weeper's" using this method. I will continue using my Wilkinson Sword DE Blades. I will put in a New Razor Blade on Sunday Morning. I used my Weber 3pc. 85mm W/Classic Handle I did 2 passes on Wednesday evening. I Got a "Rudy Castiel Clean Used Car" aka "Rudy Castiel Clean Shave" aka BBS Shave!
Sunday: Prep: Hot Shower, Neutrogena Deep Cleaning Gentle Scrub, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger Croap: RazoRock One-X Razor: FaTip Piccolo Blade: Big Ben SS (3) Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (6, 7, 8) Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, RazoRock One-X AS splash Cologne: Le 3e Homme de Caron by Caron When I started DE shaving, I used 3 passes every day because my technique needed it for good results. Today, I went with 3 passes on back-to-back days as a test of that technique, coupled with my favorite croap being up in the rotation. Either my face no longer appreciates consecutive 3-pass shaves, or the blade was not up to being pushed to 8 passes, but the 3rd pass was not very pleasant, producing a couple of weepers and some 'after-burn' to go with my BBS. Even the menthol in the One-X croap and splash did little to cool my skin. We'll see if I'm taking tomorrow off from shaving.

Sunday: Shower with Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic Bath Soap Wilkinson Sword Brush Super Speed/Rapira day 7 Ingram Blue SC Lubriderm Unscented Moisturizer Barbon AS Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui EdT Although this shave was fantastic, I'm not too enthused about this Wilkinson Sword brush at all because it was shedding quite a bit. It still whipped up some serious lather from the Ingram Blue cream from Egypt. If you notice, I said Ingram Blue because there is another Ingram cream also made in Egypt which is in a white and green tube. The one I used this morning is basically the same as the original Ingram cream from the UK, except that the tube is smaller and the menthol effect is slightly stronger. The one in the white and green tube has an even stronger menthol effect. The Barbon aftershave is one fine face-freezer with awesome skincare. The Rapira blade earned its retirement after a week of great service.

8/17/14 Prep: warm wash with Stirling Naked & Smooth bath soap Lather: SCS blend sample Brush: Vie-Long Lord Randal mixed Razor: Gillette New SC Blade: Persona Super (1) Post: Captain's Choice Bay Rum I chose to use a soap sample this morning which I received from a pen-friend who is also a wet-shaver. The sample was fine. The V-L brush picked up plenty of product in about 30 seconds and face lathering gave me adequate lather for 3 passes. The fresh Persona blade was smooth and did what it was supposed to . Funny, stick with the same tools long enough and you just don't get many surprises.
