Well for the second time in 2 months the post office has once again managed to lose my package! The first lost package was to the winner of the Weishi razor that I pif'ed a while back. After being dropped off at my local post office it never made it's way to the winner ~J.F. Martin who only lives a few hours away from me, so feeling bad about it I bought him a new chrome Utopia DE, which the post office did manage to deliver to him. Now my second package that has apparently gone missing is a Merkur 33c that I purchased last week. The seller had it picked up by USPS and the letter carrier scanned it into the system, but it has never been processed at the sorting facility. For a week now the status of it has read: Expected Delivery Day: Friday, August 15, 2014 Product & Tracking Information Postal Product: First-Class Package Service Features: USPS Tracking™ Date & Time- August 12, 2014 , 4:49 pm Status of Item- Picked Up Location- ORLANDO, FL 32824 Your item was picked up at 4:49 pm on August 12, 2014 in ORLANDO, FL 32824. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later. August 12, 2014 Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS The post office at this point isn't being of much help and seriously we can see that the mail man/woman picked up my package, but no-one has any idea where it went after that. I always have the worst of luck when shipping or receiving packages. Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS
Wow, I'm definitely sorry to hear that. I have not had any major problems with USPS. Hopefully it turns up.
Yea sorry to hear it. I've never had any issues with USPS either. So it shows that someone picked it up at the post office? Usually my tracking says something like 'out for delivery' then 'delivered'.
I used to constantly have these types of problems with UPS, but never USPS and now this is my fourth incident with USPS in a little over a year. So far the total is 3 lost packages and one certified letter containing a $1,200 check...The check being not being that big of a deal because the insurance company just issued me a new check, but still it took a couple of extra weeks to get my money.
No, the picked up status is referring to the mail man/woman picking it up from the sellers place of business. After that it should show that it was brought to the sorting facility, but somehow it never made it past being picked up.
Sorry for your issues. I've had a myriad of problems in the past with the USPS and their delivery. The biggest difficulty is finding someone culpable for lost packages. NOW I have most of my deliveries via the USPS shipped to my office as it is right next-door to the local post office. Less likely to be misplaced. My home neighborhood postal carrier speaks no english and I often wonder if he can even read numbers…..
I'm going to say there's still a hope. 1st class usually doesn't have blow by blow tracking info, it often just shows that they have it, then that it's out for delivery/delivered. I've seen some crazy stuff on tracking too. Like it showed that it was dropped off at the post office by the seller, then went up to WA from CA, then back to CA, then back to the origination post office, then out for delivery, presumably back to the who shipped it to me. We were both watching it and emailing to see what was actually happening, and the whole tracking route was entirely imaginary somehow. It never went back to CA, it went to OR and when it was out was being delivered to me even though it showed CA. I will add this to my shaving prayer list.
Scarey! I haven't had any shipping issues, but I know it can happen. Did you drop it off at the post office or have someone pick it up? I've always dropped mine off at the post office and haven't had any issues...yet
Actually every package that I have received first class via USPS has had updates through the whole process, always showing a pick up scan, followed by an acceptance scan at the sorting facility, then a departure scan from the facility-- all the way up to arrival and departure from my local post office.
The package that I shipped out was dropped off at the post office by my wife, and they now have no idea where it went after she dropped it off.
At one time I always preferred to use the USPS because they were always very reliable and my packages were always on time...But it seems from my own experience with them that they have seriously gone down hill over the past couple of years.
Yep—they've become, unfortunately, a bloated government agency that has failed to keep up with the competition (FedEx, UPS, etc), and more importantly, less items are being sent daily mail and considerably more business is now done electronically. This has led to a substantial downturn in income for the USPS while the overhead continues to climb.
At one point in time I swore by the USPS and cursed UPS. I used to have so many problems with receiving my packages from UPS that I refused to use them, and would only go with the USPS, now it seems that I have no problem with UPS and nothing but grief from the post office. I guess the tables have turned. I can honestly say that I have little use for the USPS these days, with all of my bills and personal communications done through email, and most packages being shipped via UPS or fedex the only thing the USPS is good for is junk mail.
Well after getting a complaint officially opened today, like magic ~it turns up. August 20, 2014 , 12:11 am Arrived at USPS Facility SPRINGFIELD, MA 01152 Your item arrived at our USPS facility in SPRINGFIELD, MA 01152 on August 20, 2014 at 12:11 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later. Now if it can just make it to my front door. Notice the efficiency of the Post office, they closed the sorting facility in my area which is Ct, so everything now travels through Ct. into Ma. and back to Ct.
Same thing here. Packages have got to go up to Kent, WA (suburb of Seattle, 170 miles away) and then to Portland. I told you it would show up. I had a good feeling about that one.
While this one might be hard to believe, about 15yrs ago I was pulling up to my house and I see the 'gangsta rapper' looking guy wearing those baggy jeans with his boxer shorts showing, a red T-shirt and a red ball cap, sticking his hand in my mail box--I can see that his back pockets are stuffed with envelopes, so I naturally assume that he is going around the neighborhood stealing mail. I approach him and shout WTF are you doing? His reply: "yo I'm da maya man" and he really was the Mail man...No uniform, no mail bag. If it wasn't for the mail truck he was driving--I would have called the police. I don't know if he showed up to work looking like that or changed later, but evidently no one there is enforcing any rules.
Well when it comes to the USPS I do have trepidations--4 lost items in 16 months ~in my opinion isn't a great track record. It probably showed up because of you adding it to your list of shaving prayers. LOL! Now if you could just add J.F. Martins Weishi to that list it might arrive for Christmas @J.F. Martin
My local post office is the epitome of inefficiency. I stand there and suddenly realize why they are losing a gazillion dollars a year. I recently ordered some soap from Spain. The package sat in the NY customs sort facility for a week; then went to the sorting facility in Flushing NY, then to the sorting facility in Jersey City NJ, then BACK to the sorting facility in Flushing NY, and then to my town. Go figure. Ed
