Picture this......."Barber Shop at Receiving Barracks MCRD Perris Island" Now think really hard, imagine how you look after the Barber is done giving you your first hair cut. That's what I use on my hair.
For the longest time I used whatever shampoo/conditioner that my wife had tired of since it seemed every time she changed hairdressers she'd need different expensive products and we always had a shelf full of half empty "whatever was the latest and greatest last week" hair products. Then about a year or so ago I brought home some Joico products after getting a haircut and the wife liked them then and that's what we both still use. For styling I've used Paul Mitchell's Sculpting Lotion for several years. I like it because it's very light and doesn't leave any residue unless you overdo it. I generally apply just a small amount to wet hair but you can also use it when your hair is dry. The other product I've been using for quite awhile now is a leave-in treatment to moisturize and repair since my hair is pretty dry and tends to break off at the ends. I use these products on days I don't shampoo and apply them to wet hair prior to styling. Like the Paul Mitchell product, they're very light and don't leave any residue. I've also tried a L'Oreal leave-in treatment with success but it's heavier and works better for overnight treatment unless I plan to keep my hair pulled back in a ponytail for the day.
I shampoo with Tegrin or T-Sal. No other additives. I keep my hair short. It is naturally curly and stays in place once brushed and air dried.
I wash with the same Stirling bath soap I shower with, then use whatever conditioner my wife has around, usually Pantene. I'm still holding onto enough hair to have a classic side part, and I like it shiny, so I use either American Crew Grooming Cream (high shine, high hold), American Crew Pomade (a little less shine and hold), Beyond the Zone Retro Vinyl (medium hold, high shine) or sometimes just a few drops of jojoba oil (shiny but not much hold).
