Interesting -- I tend to shave my head (keeping in mind I'm a total noob at it) from back to front primarily. I find the grain seems to point mostly "South" so I guess this would be ATG. Except for the back of my neck, where I tend to go from the center towards my shoulders since that also seems to be ATG. I like the fact that I can hear/feel the cutting.

Funny how before a few short weeks ago I didn't think about any of this... Just how bad my "fringe" of hair looked every damn day in the mirror. Now I'm voraciously reading stuff on vintage razors, artisanal after shaves, the merits of various blade brands, rituals and regimens, and men's style. I guess part of it is my own personal makeover I'm involved in -- I decided to do a #Whole30 diet change in June and have already lost over 10% of my body weight (now in my 3rd Whole30) and shaving my head seemed to be a way to accelerate my personal transformation.

gotta be a little more careful with this razor, which is why it gets the least amount of use. And I usually do two across the grain passes instead of an against the grain with this one to get my three passes in. But, as the children say today, "it is all good".

Going through something similar myself. I started doing the Whole30 plan on June 16th (2014) and have so far dropped from 272 -- my highest weight ever -- to 245 as of this morning. So I'm down 10% oft body weight in 73 days. Took a couple of days off between my first and second Whole30. I'm only 5'7" so I was significantly overweight and still am. And at 47, I've started to really consider what that extra weight would mean to my life span. Interestingly, I also decided around the same point to do another transformation while I was at it, and started shaving my head (I was already bald with a fringe, but it was still kind of a scary decision). Glad I did. Now I am just hoping to continue the weight loss by doing another Whole30 and deciding that Whole30/Paleo may be the only way for me to keep the weight under control from this point forward.

--Edit: weird, I was trying to post this to a weight loss thread over in Badger and Blade. Not sure how it ended up here. Apparently Tapatalk doesn't like people with multiple forum subscriptions.

Welcome to the Shave Den Eric! I think you will enjoy the company of the fine Gentlemen on this forum and the friendly advise. Everyone will be happy to help in your transition into wet shaving and we look forward to your shave of the day posts. Haven't used the Silvertip in a long long time. When fully loaded with warm creamy lather it is like using a soft warm pillow on the beard. No face lathering is possible with this cream puff of a brush. :D Getting ready to hit the road again for about 4 days and I am not taking my laptop :lam: so, I will be out of if for awhile. Enjoy your shaves Gentlemen and I'll catch up when I get back. :happy069:
