Yep! Fisherman's Wharf in San Fran...Where the elite meet to eat! :D The key is the San Fran Sourdough bread with the clam chowder that makes it soooo good! :happy088:

Not THAT's something we can all agree upon! Safe travels, Bruce! You should have nice, mild Summer weather in SF over the next few days! Enjoy!

As the Dark Lord of the Abominable Shave, I thought it would be interesting to crank it up a notch by using two products whose reputation has always exceeded my own experiences.
I am talking about the Merkur Progress razor and the Martin de Candre soap.

Mind you, I have never experienced anything negative about these two products, but I have also never understood what the hype is all about. I feel I have better performing soaps and razors than these two items.

That being said, I have also never quite mastered the art of using an adjustable properly. I have just dialed in the progress on the lower settings and never actually experimented much before.

The MdC soap has burned me from time to time and I have always felt the lather to be too thin for comfort.
Tonight was going to be different. I loaded my homemade brush, now christened SithSpawn for a good 30 seconds before going to the bowl for further lathering. The brush called forth the dark side of the force and managed to whip up an abundance of thick, slick, protective and nourishing lather.

The razor on the other hand, proved to be something of a nuisance. At level two, it was quite the chatterbox. Loud, but also effective, just like an R2 unit. When dialed up to level 4 it became silent, but oh so smooth. I was unsure if it actually cut anything, but it probably did. So to test if more is indeed merrier, I cranked it up to level 5.

Big mistake, since it acted like a Padawan apprentice, crude and lacking in both style and form and left me feeling like I shaved with a lightsaber instead.

    Face Soap: Fitjar Preshave Soap
    Razor: Merkur Progress
    Blade: Crystal
    Brush: The Sithspawn
    Aftershave Lotion: Aqua Velva
Aftershave Balm: Proraso Original Aftershave Balm

Omelmad My printer email address is..........

Shave of the day, evening shave

Pre- Hot shower and ARKO + Homemade preshave oil

    Soap/cream- Mitchells wool fat

    Brush- Omega boar 10810

    Razor- Gem Micromatic Open comb

    Blade- Gem stainless steel(4)

Post- Cold water rinse, alum block and Nivea aftershave balm

First successful shave with MWF. 2 passes WTG. The lather was OK, I know it can be much better and more protective though =P dried out too fast.

Some burning on the mustache area. I'm still getting to know this razor so it's understandable.

The gem blade doesn't look like it's gonna cave any time soon haha. I like that! Very good blade.

The Arko prep seems to help, but it might be placebo effect. Gonna try it a couple more times and then try without =) I just load Arko on my face in stickform and lather it with my hands and let it sit while I shower, I do this 2 times.

Didn't get around to using my slim today as much as I wanted to. I was tired and wanted a quick shave. I get that with the MMOC.
