Does neat's foot replenish the scales somehow?or am I way off?

Neatsfoot oil will "nourish" horn scales, soften them a bit, eliminate some brittleness. A tougher, glossier, and smoother scale is the result. A lot like moisturizing lotion on your skin.

…which can make a BIG difference between a successful 'unpinning' of a razor and a broken scale.

THAT is one of the coolest labels I think I've ever seen...

Kevin-thanks for the crack about the capabilities of the Japanese chef...my day begins with a smile.

And the love for the Veg here is overwhelming! I recently grew the nerve to try the stuff for the first time. I've always LOVED Clubman, but was wary of The Veg. My reaction was like "UGH! What IS that?!? MUST...APPLY...MORE!!!"

Floor wax or silicone spray will also help scales. I recently tried silicone spray on my Filarmonica Especial Para Barbas Duras's rubber grip and decided to spray the blade as well per a buddy's suggestion. A few hours later I wiped off excess silicone and was surprised at how shiny the blade was. The more I wiped it off, the more water stains and blemishes seemed to disappear.

    Bartmann 86 extra manganese steel

I started off with my Henkotsu Gold No. 2 and realized it wasn't shaving as well I'd like. Next I pulled out the big guns, my size 3 kamisori. It worked better but still needs more work. I think I messed up the edge Glen/gssixgun had put on it. So that's when I finished up with my Bartmann, a perfect shaver.

The Henkotsu is the top razor.

J.B.F. Champlin Galvanic 6/8 hollow ground again this morning. I don't really know if it's a half-hollow or a full-hollow still, different charts I see online seem to indicate it's either one or the other though! :p Whatever it's called I'm really enjoying it and this morning's shave was another good 'un. Clean, close & comfy! :happy005:

So you soak the whole razor in Neat's foot before you break it down to R&R the scales.

Excellent shave this morning. I'll have to try and get my light box set up again, it's just to dark before and after work to get outside pics.

An Ebay Cheapie I bought on impulse back when I first started SR shaving. The Herskovitz actually has turned into one of my favorite razors….always good results! Best $17 (+s&h) I've invested….;) Who'da thunk it?

No shaves for a few days. I "skint" myself with those traditional kamisori.

No air conditioning since last night and the temperatures are in the 90's with very humid North Carolina weather. I'll have to wait for my landlord to fix things.

I took a lightning strike a few days ago and my entire electrical service is absolutely bonkers now. AC works sometimes, sometimes just the blower, garage door opener sometimes turns on its security lights, outside security lights don't work, then turn on at noon, etc.

What I'm saying is, I feel your pain...

Mike, I decided to run errands in my chilly car. I picked up a window AC unit and realized I'd have to put screws into a pitiful window ledge and with lightweight vinyl windows that wouldn't hold the unit stable. My landlord wouldn't like it, as well. Then I go to Goodberry's for a super large concrete of frozen custard, come home and the AC is working.

Bizzare. No tripped circuits. For a few minutes the outside fan was working, but nothing but click, click inside. So within 24 hours, back in business. I'll still ask for the service guy to come by.

Good luck with your electrical gremlins.

I might try a one pass shave.
    ..........
A few minutes later and the AC stopped again.
