Just so I am understanding this right, she can't sit with other kids because for some reason they will give her food she is allergic too, and for another strange reason your daughter might accept the food she is allergic too.

That is pretty ridiculous, i don't think you are over reacting at all. My daughter was 6 when she told me that one of her classmates has to eat a special cake when they have birthdays becasue of his allergies, all the other kids are aware of his allergy but he isn't segregated from the other kids, there's no point. My duahgter knows not to offer him any of her food, he knows not to take it, pretty simple really. i hope you can soon find a happy resolution to this situation for you and your daughter.

My Merkur slant broke this morning.
When the bottom stem fell out it chipped a tile in the bathroom floor.
When I backed out of the driveway this morning, I came within inches of running over my daughters cat.
I usually stop at the local truck stop to fill up on fuel, and when I go in to pay,
I get a coffee with 2 sugars. This morning it had 2 salts instead.
I'd tell you of the rest of my day, but the Mods have already warned me about my language this week.....

Spend 90 minutes at the DMV after work today. It was the downtown DMV. If you've never been to the downtown DMV in a major city, I suggest you do. Quite the melting pot of people.

That sir is why you take a day off. I know, I know no one really wants to spend their day off at the DMV. The good thing is you wake up early and get there a good 15-30 minuted before they open.

I am taking my son in for surgery on his foot/Achilles tendon area. The last time he had surgery I carried him into the hospital at 10 months of age. Today, at nearly 21, he has to carry himself.

I'm feeling plussed, whelmed, and appointed. I'm seeking avenues toward a new career path. I'm looking to go into graphic design. Most probably illustration. I found an awesome resource that looks like I could learn a ton from, and it has a support community that goes along with the free videos, that would probably be uber-helpful on my journey.

    "Sign in to facebook."

    crap. crap. crap.

I guess I'm going to have to finally break down and do it.

Before being called into ministry, I received my degree in graphic design; with an emphasis on illustration. The industry has changed over the years with the advent of the digital realm and vector-based software. ANYONE can illustrate providing they can click a mouse. I'm still a proponent of free-hand rendering, whether it simply be in the conceptual stage or in the final phases. Digital technology can inhibit creativity, creating a barrier between one's concept and the application of it to paper. I've seen students who were quite gifted in sketching out some wonderful ideas, but had real challenges in transferring them to digital. Conversely, software such as illustrator has enabled those who struggle with freehand drawing to convey their creative ideas more effectively.
The best of luck to you in this new field! It can be very personally rewarding...:happy088:

    Thanks!

I've been doing book covers for Jim Mullaney for a couple of years now, and I have to say, I really find the work rewarding. In fact, I'm working on Red Menace #5 right now. I've always been a self-taught student of art, and have dabbled in all sorts of mediums. I'm comfortable with pencil and paper, but I find digital so freeing if for no other reason than the "undo" feature and the cleanliness of it. It "just feels right" to me.

Cool. Have you read the Crag Banyon books, or just the Red Menace stuff? I didn't do the cover for Red Menace #1, but the rest have all been me.

Prayers greatly appreciated. The surgery went well and I had him back home about 6 hours after we left this morning. Amazing what is done now that wasn't done just a few years ago. The partially ruptured and scarred Achilles tendon is now rebuilt the way its supposed to be. He will be on crutches for 4-6 weeks and then should be back up to full speed.
