Been lurking on the forums for about three months. Got some awesome advice and took the plunge about two months ago. I'm in the air force and have to shave everyday and since I started with this DE craze it has completely changed how I felt about shaving. I use to dread the morning shave and now it's an adventure. I only have a Merkur 34C currently but I have a Gillette SS otw. I did want to say thanks to everyone for all the help thru the transition. It made my selections (outside of my wife's purchases) very easy. She bought me the AoS soap bowl and soap (scent less) and it's very nice. Well just wanted to say thank you and introduce myself. Btw my name is Chuck and I hope to learn tons more!! -Chuck
Welcome USAF brother, this is a fun journey, and being military gives you a unique opportunity to build your collection with every PCS, TDY, or Deployment. I wish I would have been shown this stuff sooner..
Where are you in AETC bro? I'm currently at Randolph and my wife works on Ft Sam. Were both AETC HAHAHAHA. -Chuck
Hey Chuck, Welcome aboard! I'm also in the San Antonio area. Make yourself at home and thanks for your service. Bob
I already have!!! Honestly I creeped for over a month, looked at reviews, suggestions, opinions, etc before I pulled the trigger on even thinking about DE shaving. But man I'm glad I went the newbie route. I cut super easy. So far I've been very lucky. But I've also been going slow and safe. So far it has done a 180 from my old shaver (Gillette Sensor). -Chuck
Thank you. I love the area so far. Only been there about 2 months. But I love up in cibolo. And I'm very very happy.
Im teaching @Sheppard. So Im north of you a bit. Now that you converted, you will never go back to cartridge shaving. I actually enjoy shaving and convert my students. Keep in touch buddy if you have any questions just fire away.
A crew dawg at Randolph? I didn't know they had planes... I teach avionics on the A-10 & U-2...im a spec or pointy head as you call us..lol. It's a sweet gig and I can't complain.
to TSD Chuck Have you gotten a sample blade pack yet? Their very helpful in choosing a favorite blade/blades. The more different blades you can try the better.
Welcome, nice to have you here. My dad is Air Force, I'm army... If I was smart I would have listened to him when he said join the Air Force.
Hell no you can't. That's what I wanted was to be an instructor. Unfortunately my wife got an instructor job first. -Chuck
I have one otw. Unfortunately I tried a pack of wilkinsons and just started yesterday with the merkur that came with my razor. So here is a question the merkur on day one was awesome, day two was again awesome, day three felt like I was being tortured!!! Do those blades dull fast or am I just being over analytic? I had no slices the first two days with two pass shaves ( still learning so going slow and paying attention and trying not to aggravate as my skin is sensitive) but the WTG pass on the third day was murder!! Any help/info? -Chuck
I don't work on planes. I'm there strictly as a SME for my career field in modifications, recommendations, acquisitions, etc. -Chuck
Thanks! I like the Air Force. I was originally signed up for the marines until September 11th. That day they cut guaranteed jobs; which wasn't a big deal; however my recruiters attitude about it sucked. So when he suggested " if you (me) don't like it the Air Force recruiter is across the hall" I took his advice. Never looked back. I worked with the Army at Pope a lot and I loved every second!!
