Usual advice go slow and gentle..Thats part of the rational for a large blade sampler pack/packs as all blades react differently with every face. They last for different amounts of time before needing changing out. You just need to try them to see what works best for your face and technique...
That was my thoughts but just incase anyone knew that maybe the included blade with the razor was garbage I thot I would ask. Thanks a ton for the reply. -Chuck
To be honest I only use a DE blade for only 2-3 shaves. If I feel any tugging or discomfort I simply stop and dont push it. Your face gives you instant feedback. Another thread mentioned flipping the blade, but Ive never tried it.
That's the difference with the den..a bunch of friendly guys who are always there to help out, answer questions, and share experiences. Its great!
Hahahahaha I actually tried the flipping thing!!! On the wilkinsons I used a sharpie to mark one side and tried flipping every second shave. My results were....well inconclusive; but the feeling of the shave was unpleasant so the blades got trashed. I say inconclusive because I don't feel I have the experience to judge plus I have only used two types of blades and I know that every blade will react different to the situations it is exposed to. -Chuck
It honestly has completely came off like that so far!!! Which is unusual for a forum Hahahaha. -Chuck
Welcome and for the newer user here is your indoctrination instructions! THE 30 DAY RULE is as follows: Find a razor, then a blade that will not cause issues with your skin (that may take a few different blades in a sampler pack to find a suitable choice or it maybe the first out of the gate) and select a soap or cream that is easy to generate good lather. Once you find those, and it may take a couple of weeks to find this combination, order a quantity of that blade enough for 30 days, and then spend 30 days using nothing else until you build up your technique. (Note that only one brand blade is used for 30 days after each blade in the sampler pack is tested to make the decision on the blade brand to use for 30 days.) The 30 day clock starts when you have the right blade for you. After 30 days, change one and only one variable and work for another week then change another after another week. At that point you should be able to make better decisions because your technique is now in place. This will help you to avoid buying too much gear and stuff too soon without having the technique down to enjoy it all. This really does work. Oh and one more thing ... Welcome to the Den. We know you'll fit right in. So grab yourself a comfy chair, and give our threads a spin! Burma Shave
Welcome to the Den! And thank you for your service, from a veteran who knows that it isn't always as much fun as we say it is.
