Erik Redd Lizabeth, baby, I'm comin' to join ya.

For some reason I thought you lived in Maine....

Texas is a "Right to Work" state. I don't know why they use that term, but it means an employer can terminate your employment at any time for no stated reason. It's only the Unionized employees that have some protection. Of course, you can sue for age/sex/race/religion discrimination, but the burden of proof is on the accuser.

How has everyone been? I've been quite caught up in life. I've been missing my TSD family.

Born in Maine. Dad was in the Air Force and we moved a lot. Spent a year there while he did a tour in Thailand at the tail end of the Vietnam war. We spent the last two years of his career uin Maine. I joined the AF and now retired in New Jersey. Mom and Dad are in Maine and we go up at least once a year to visit. If it wasn't for pastoring here in NJ, I would probably be in Maine.

Today sept 18th is going to be a good day! I have two new soaps from TSD members coming and I am meeting some retirees like myself at the local pub to enjoy some brewskis ( we all have a designated driver)

    Belated happy birthday, mates!

Yeah it is. In Canada (non union positions) you are on a 3 month probation where you can be terminated at any time, or leave any time with no notice. I was there about 7 weeks so they could do it. Its really crappy, but that's life.

The good news is I am starting to get leads on jobs and find other positions...and the crazy thing is they pay significantly more than the job I just lost...for less work! (Meaning not senior management pulling 12 hour days on a regular basis).

Ok, Its 04:15 Hrs (4:15 AM), I started yesterday at 19:00 Hrs (7 PM) and I am due to "knock Off" at 08:00. Work was pretty good tonight but I am ready for some beauty sleep, LOTS of beauty sleep. At the moment I'm thinking, Knock Off, go home, get 4 hrs sleep, get up and have a shower, prepare face and have a leisurely shave with nice hot lather in my Scuttle, then wander out to the lounge room and partake of a couple of drams of Johnnie Walker Black Label scotch that I got for fathers day (while the house is quiet), do a little web surfing, maybe a little work on my Razor presentation box I have been working on, briefly see my wife when she gets home from work, skip dinner, then go back to bed and sleep again as I have to change from Night Shift To Day Shift and be back here at work tomorrow morning 07:00.
So hows my day? Yesterday/Today Good - Today/Tomorrow Not So Good -Weekend Totally Shot (Working 13Hr Day Shifts) BUT THEN Back to good again as I have some rostered days off. Days off during the (normal people's) working week are excellent as I get the house to myself all day

It is gonna be another day like yesterday. I have to go to the gun club and host 150 Boy scouts. They are learning shooting safety and trap shooting in general. They wore me out yesterday LOL. It is a great cause!

Continued home improvement task...got all flooring in the living area down...still need to work baseboards.

On the fun side, did a rack of baby backs on the Old Smokey. Low and slow; took about five hours. Used a mix of hickory and pecan wood to make the smoke. Ummmmmm good. Sides were collards with turnips and a pot of Cranberry beans. Can't forget the pan of cornbread. Simply cannot get any better. :happy093:

I've had a pretty fun day. I volunteered (I do every year) at Rose City Comic Con. I'm not a collector or big comic person, but I do appreciate the culture and the people watching is amazing. It's a really big show now. I started at 6:30 this morning and got home today and passed out for a couple of hours. I'd only signed up for Saturday morning but will likely be going back tomorrow as they always need more bodies. And literally, I mean bodies. Most of what I did today could've been done by a velvet rope and stanchion.

Anniversary today. The first one. It's been phenomenal until Robin destroyed an armadillo on the way home. She got so upset and I couldn't understand why. It's not like we hit a penguin.
