Thanks, Kevin. A pleasantly cool and drizzly day. I'm off work this week. My vacation consists of walking, reading, taking photos and drinking great IPA's.

    Dove Men's Face Wash
    TOBS Lavender Shaving Cream
    Frank Shaving Finest Badger
    Schick J-2
    Schick Plus Platinum
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Rose Petal WH
    Mennen Skin Bracer AS

The TOBS Shaving Soap face-lathered very easily with my Frank Shaving Finest Badger Brush. Two passes with my Schick J-2 and Schick Plus Platinum blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Mennen Skin Bracer after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Thanks, Gary. I loved it. I thought maybe I'd get the Beatles' " Will You Still Love Me When I"m 64" done classical style. I love Victor Borgia.

Prep: Hot cloth, Alba Botanica Hawaiian Coconut Milk Moisturizing Cream Shave

    Brush: Van Der Hagen badger.

    Lather: Arko

Razor: Gillette Fatboy, then switched to a Schick Krona

    Blade: Feather

Post: Cold water rinse; Razorock alum block; C.O. Bigelow Dr. Galen Herbal Witch Hazel Skin Tonic No. 010.

After: Nivea Sensitive Skin After Shave Balm

Started my shave tonight (head and face) with a Feather blade in my Fatboy, but just one stroke in, it didn't feel "right." Maybe my hands felt too slippery, or something like that. Whatever it was, my gut told me I should switch to something non-adjustable tonight. So I slipped the Feather blade into the oldest of my Kronas and got to it. Great, smooth shave -- almost BBS -- that was a very relaxing way to end my day.

Anyone else ever feel the instinct to "switch horses in the middle of the race?" Tonight I just wasn't feeling it with the Fatboy. Maybe it's more of a morning razor.

    Thor's Day:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Facial Scrub Cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Stirling Bay Rum
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Dorco 300 (4)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (10, 11)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Captain's Choice Cat o' Nine Tails AS splash
Cologne: Gigember Estragone by Dr. Vranjes

This was my first use of the Invigorating Facial Scrub from Neutrogena; other than where it touched my lips accidentally, the menthol was more 'in the nose' than felt on the skin, for me. I puck-lathered the Stirling Bay Rum, and the lather was better today than the Glacial Obsidian was on Monday, but not as good as I'd like - nor as satisfying for me, as a face-latherer. With four days use, the Dorco-300 showed enough wear and tear that I decided 2 passes without any nicks, weepers, or irritation were sufficient, leaving me with a DFS shave and some mild burn from the Cat o' Nine Tails.

I'm really not supposed to shave both today and tomorrow because of Rosh Hashanah but I just couldn't resist. Besides, if I would go two days without shaving my beard stubble would be so tough that the next time I shaved I'd have to do just about ten passes to get it all off. The Glacial Wintergreen soap performed beautifully for me - that scent drives me crazy, the lather is such a pleasure to work with, not to mention that intense menthol effect which I love so much. The matching witch hazel added to the freezing fun. Another super-BBS shave which was so enjoyable. ;) :D

    Brush: Omega 10006
    Razor: Gillette New SC

Back to the homemade soap and it works. I am just allergic to the menthol and eucalyptus in shaving soaps. Never again I guess. Anyhoo, 2 passes on my face for a SAS, despite nicking a mole on my neck, and 2 passes on my scalp and I am ready to head off to a leadership conference with 100 enthusiastic freshmen.

today's shave was a trial run. I have had this little razor that folds up on itself. to be stored in a little box not much bigger than a pill box. I've never tried it at home, can't take it untried on the road, right? it was very light, four passes to get smooth, but I got there. no blood, I'm not irritated now. let's see if the Florida Sun can show some irritation. finished with Pacific rush.

Poor pic but great shave. Beer Soap Brewing Co. is another excellent artisan soap maker. I really like the scent of London Skies. Have a good one.

    Thursday:
hot shower w/Crabtree & Evelyn Sandalwood bar soap

    Gillette RedTip 2 passes
    Gillette Silver Blue (3)
    Surrey boar
    Craftsman Cedar & Eucalyptus soap
    Thayers unscented w/aloe
    Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve AS

First time with the Craftsman so I need to work on the water ratio a bit plus I want to melt this square puck to better fit the round container I put it in.
I have to say I was somewhat surprised that I didn't get my usual super close shave with the RedTip especially after this SilverBlue blade performed so well the first two shaves in my Senator.

Filarmonica! Despite this is just a 12, therefore less sumptuous than the celebrated 14, this José Monserrat Pou's masterpiece gives a remarkable satisfaction and an impeccable shave. A great razor, small and easy to use, it is never disappointing.

    Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion
    Razor: Schick Adjustable M2
    Blade: Schick (4)
    Lather: WSP Barbershop
Brush: Parker Chrome Handle w/ TGN Synthetic Knot

Today shave was excellent and very comfortable. If you have not tried WSP shave soaps, you owe it to yourself to do so. The samples are very inexpensive.

This will be my last post until next Monday. My lovely bride and I are leaving early in the morning for a romantic weekend getaway to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary.

Have a great day and a great rest of the week!

How could I not shave with a straight I just honed last night?

There is still lost of room for improvement, but the post hone shave was smoother then the previous shave with the razor. Easily a DFS after to passes and no sign of irritation.

    Works for me!
