The knot is from WD. The handle is Bethlehem olivewood from Israel. Larry at WD set it for me.

Razor: Vintage German Travel Razor ( Merkur like head) 2 piece handle
    Brush: VDH Badger
Mug: Old Spice (late glass Mug 04 1970s - 1992) The last OS Mug
Cream: Taylor of Old Bond Street - grapefruit
    Blade: Feather (2)
Pre shave: Tree Hut Shea body wash
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black cooling gel, 1981 California Vintage Bay Rum

First shave with this Travel Razor, I plan on taking it on vacation trips, as my Braun electric just doesn't do it for me, even if I need a fast shave. I spent an hour cleaning The Adjustables, so the rest of my razors are in rotation. Back to the shave. I starting to use a pre shave Shea soap because of the drier weather, to help keep my skin slick. The TOBS whipped up a thick lather and I screwed in the Feather, and checked the alignment and was good to go for my first pass WTG. So far so good, this shaves a lot like my Merkur but with a lighter and shorter handle. It's mild so it will be great for quick shaves on the road. A little rinse to see how we are doing and relather for a XTG pass on my face and ATG on my neck. Some more lather for touch up on my neck and we are done. Warm water rinse and pat dry. Some WH and after cleanup some Jack Black AS gel, then some Bay Rum and it's off to the range. Remember Gun Control is hitting your target.

    Sunday

I broke out the old 500 today. The first pass was smooth, but not the second one. That being said I had a rough shave yesterday...so that is 99% of the reason why.

Other than that, I decided to give the Muhle Black Fibre a second go...I'm glad I did. It was the best lather with it yet!

    Have a great Sunday everyone!

Beautiful brush Bob! Olive wood has a beautiful grain!

I see you're using Viking's Sword. How do you like those blades? I find them pretty smooth, a close second to persona plats.

Prep: Hot shower. Soap Works Creamy Clay. Noxzema.

    Brush: Van Der Hagen Badger.

Lather: Forever Summer Caribbean Bay artisanal soap.

    Razor: Merkur #34C.

    Blade: Shark, day 3.

Post: Cold water; Razorock Alum Block; C.O. Bigelow Dr. Galen Herbal Witch Hazel Skin Tonic No. 010.

    After: Captain's Choice "North" aftershave.

Third consecutive day of using the Merkur 34C for a head shave. I think this is a record for me. Still loving the heft and size of the Merkur. I tried using the same Shark blade for the third day too, and while it's very close to BBS, it seemed to be a bit more effort to get there. So I think one to two days may be optimum.

I'm debating for tomorrow -- either going to try the new-to-me Aristocrat, or change it up completely and try a full shave with the Lord L6 I got for $8 on B&B's BST board. I have experimented with it a bit and come to the conclusion that it may well be the most underrated razor in my growing collection. (Yes, I know I didn't follow the 30-day rule... Not even close. But I'm a lifehacker by nature and more than a little ADHD.)

Also, I am a big fan so far of the new North aftershave by Captain's Choice and West Coast Shaving (https://www.westcoastshaving.com/mobile/Captains-Choice-North-Aftershave_p_2337.html). It is more understated than their Lime or Bay Rum, with more of a juniper scent and some spices in the background. It unfortunately fades a bit too quickly for me, but so far SWMBO has not objected to it. Which, if you've been following my Scents thread here, is a pretty resounding endorsement from my wife thus far. ;)

Handles can be found on Ebay from seller Jerusalem_products http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bethlehem-O...209?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c357702b1. I have put together four brushes with their handles and are very good quality but he does offer a lower grade handle if you wish. Around $20 shipped for handle but you will have to supply your own knot. Designed to accept a 25mm knot but I have a 26mm HMB in the one that I have shown here on my SOD pics from time to time.

Got inspired by looking at this thread, still playing in the blade sampler, and decided to try the cold water shave for the first time...

    image.jpg

Prep--Washcloth and Kirk's Hardwater Castile Soap

Cold Water Shave and rinse, Alum, WH, followed by Skin Bracer.

This was 2pass plus touchup. This is one of the last shaves before 30 Day Rule, and was pleasantly surprised in this go round with Shark. Kinda like the cold water shave feel...gonna revisit in November.

    DFS...
