    Menthol Monday

    Prep: hot shower
    Razor: Weishi 9306
    Blade: Astra SP(day 3)
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Cream: Proraso Green
    Passes: 3 (WTG, 2xXTG) + touch ups
    Post: 444

No shave yesterday for no other reason than I was lazy. It left me with a bit of a dilemma for today's shave, go back to the mild Weishi or stick with the straights. I picked the Weishi, and am glad that I did. My standard two passed left me with a great shave, but I decide to add on an extra XTG pass to see if I couldn't improve on a few spots. Add in some buffing on my neck and I walked away BBS with zero irritation. Monday shaves don't get much better than that.

    Monday:
hot shower w/Pecksniff's Ginger Flower & Patchouli body wash
    Somersets Extra Sensitive PSO
Gillette Fat Handle Tech 2 passes
    Voskhod Teflon (4)
    VDH boar
    TSD Iced Eucalyptus soap
    Thayers unscented w/aloe
    Brut AS balm

Had good shaves Friday and Saturday with my Gillette RedTip but it was a three day weekend for me so I didn't have time to post. I did however pick up a few treasures on our little jaunt to St Louis so those should get posted in The Haul sometime this week.

This morning was a quick 2 pass since we just got back late yesterday and the alarm was pretty rude at 4:30am but I did enjoy a nice selection of products.

    Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion
    Razor: PAL Adjustable
    Blade: Schick (2)
    Lather: Proraso Red Cream
    Brush: Oscar11 w/ Omega 20248 Knot
    Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion
    Aftershave: Shulton Old Spice

I've been out of town for the past 3 days on a nice little trip with my wife. She requested that I not shave while we were gone so I didn't. By Sunday, she was wishing that she hadn't made that request.

Today was my 2nd use of a newly acquired PAL Adjustable. Even on it's lowest setting, this razor is quite aggressive. I have heard that some were mild, some aggressive, and some just right. All I can say is that I really like this razor. It requires a very light touch, but I gives a fantastic shave. Both of my shaves with it so far have been excellent shaves.

The really cool thing about the PAL is that I remember my father using this model razor. When I was about 5 or 6 (around 1967 or 68), he gave it to me and I used to play with it all the time. I thought it was the coolest looking razor ever, and I still do.

    Have a great day!

9/29/2014 Menthol Monday! Woo Hoo!! Badger Brush Week

Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Muhle R41 2011, Wade & Butcher Bow straight razor
    Blade: Astra SP (1)
Brush: Black Badger 19mm knot from Ace Shaving
    Soap: Yeti Snot
After: Home made ASB, Aqua Velva classic Ice Blue
    Cologne: Pure Distance M

For Menthol Monday!! I finished up the Yeti Snot sample that I won in a PIF. This has been the coldest shave soap that I have used so far. The R41 and the W&D Bow had no trouble with mowing down the 2 days of stubble. The AV kept the chill going and the Pure Distance M will have me smelling great all day.

    Have a blessed day!

Mastro Livi Damasco "100 layers", 13/16 Extra Hollow, Square Point

What I love about this razor is the smell of the scales. Juniper wood with its very intense aroma really adds an extra pleasure to the Mastro Livi experience. Not to mention the smoothness of this carbon Damascus steel, personally made by Mastro Livi and made of a total of 100 layers. Smooth, very smooth, absolutely pure velvet, it is a joy to shave with. And, yes, the aroma of juniper wood is absolutely wonderful!

You probably already know this but the settings on the PAL are backwards from what seems natural. "L" is the most aggressive and "H" is the least aggressive.

Razor: Gillette new open comb (long)
    Blade: Ladas

I had a very close and very nice shave this morning. The more I use it, the more I like TIKI because it really produces a slick lather.

Wow, Japanese Schick. I know they make great straight razors and disposeable shavette blades, but an injector blade. That must be a good one.

Thanks, John, for reminding me of this. Now that you mention it, I remember reading something about that several months ago. Right now I have it set to "L." I guess that's the reason it's so aggressive. I'll have to dial it back and see if that makes a difference.

    Razor: Feather AS-D1
    Blade: Feather (D1)
Brush: Black Pearl 24mm TGN Finest
    Bowl: Dirty Bird 1.5 Scuttle
    Pre Shave Soap: MRGLO Lime
Pre Shave Balm: TSD Iced SubZero
    Shave Soap: Tiki Frosted Woodlands
    Post: Monster Alum Block
    Aftershave: Tiki AS Lotion
First time using a Feather razor and they are not kidding when they say it is mild. Combination of this razor and Tiki Soap I found myself checking my face and neck multiples times throughout the shave. Took awhile to find the right angle but paired with their own Feather blade, a mighty fine shave this morning. Really didn't need the AS lotion but sticking to my ritual as I do not want to spoil a good thing.
