7/8 J.E. Bleckman Progress made in Solingen with silver steel for the Italian market. Don't know anything about them but it shaves very nicely and may be the easiest to hone of any I have. Picked it up on the bay 2014-10-05 09.01.21.jpg

A poor shave this morning even after tuning up the razor. This one is an enigma to me. I have many straights and have never run across one I can't get to where I want it. But I have a plan for next time;). Today's shave was the end of my Cella, love the performance but tire of the scent quickly. Have a good one.

So it's an issue with the sharpness of the razor you think? Good lookin' razor...

Did it take a good bevel all along the edge prior to further honing?

I'm not the hugest fan of marzipan, but it seems to diminish once it's lathered. It's just too good otherwise to not use the heck out of it...

Mike, I would have never bought if it weren't for the scales. Bevel looks good but apparently can't be. It's one of those hollow grinds where it gets thicker toward the edge, almost a diamond shape looking in cross section. I consider myself as being the problem with this razor, just not smart enough to figure it out. I'll glass the edge, take it back to 1000 grit and work it back up. I'll double tape the spine and see what happens. At worst it'll just be a waste of my time, at best I'll figure something out and have a good shaving razor. I have a lot of razors and haven't run into bad steel yet. It gets sharp just not as sharp as I want it. I haven't taken it to any pasted strops either but figure you should get it sharp off the stones with a clean leather strop.
Agree, Cella is good stuff. I just can't use it on a daily basis the scent gets to me after 2 or 3 days in a row.

Sweet almond can be a bit 'cloying' after consecutive days.
My weakness is anise (black licorice) in shaving cream scents. I've used the Stirling black ice or glacial obsidian for consecutive days and my wife claims the bathroom, post-shave, smells like a jelly-bean factory! She's not a fan….;)

Seldom do I resort to large scale magnification, but in this case I think I'd have to try to put it on the 1K with Sharpie on the bevel, take a few strokes and slap that sucker under the microscope/loupe/what-have-you...sounds like some pretty wacky business happening at the edge, like it's not even actually honing the very edge, just a portion of the bevel...Hmmm...It may be just the photo but it looks like the condition you describe is actually visible.

I love Cella...about once a week :), but I love way too many other great shave soaps (S.A.D.) to obligate to any one in particular...

I didn't shave today. I'm letting my face recover from ATG passes on the cheeks and from wacking myself with a shavette, but a few minutes ago, I received an express package with this in it. The razor shaves arm hair, so I'm tempted to test shave without honing.
