    Monday 10/06/14

    Prep: Nutregena face cleanser
    Oil: Shave Secret
Brush: 20mm Whipped dog set deep
    Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery
Razors: Gillette new open comb (long)
    Blade: Ladas
    soap: LPL
    Alum: Sprayed on
    Witch Hazel: Generic unscented

Another very nice LPL shave. This is definitely one of the better soaps. 3 passes and smooth as glass.

    Menthol Monday:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Stirling Glacial Obsidian
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo OC
    Blade: Bolzano Superinox (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (3, 4, 5)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS splash
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

I soaked the Stirling puck longer than normal this AM (wanted to soak it overnight, but cold medicine knocked me out), and it seemed to help; I had enough product for 3 passes without having to go back to the puck, although the third pass's lather wasn't quite as thick as I tend to prefer. Perhaps because of that, I caught a small weeper and some hot spots on that 3rd pass, which the cold water splash and alum took care of without issue. BBS results this AM as the Bolzano felt smooth as glass.

    Daughter's first straight razor shave.

You need to understand that she is a teenager, and therefore, my IQ has dropped dramatically over the past few years.

    Prep: glycerin based soap
    Oil: none
    Brush: 24mm Whipped dog
    Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery
    Razor: 3/8 wedge - straight
    soap: Trumper's Coconut
    Alum: none
    Witch Hazel: Generic unscented

Last night my daughter tried a straight razor for the first time. Before she started I put on my shoes and warmed up the bike so I could run her to the hospital if needed. :)

I had shown her a couple of times how to use a straight, concentrating on blade angle and skin stretching. She was way more comfortable with a straight than I have ever been. Frankly, I am still a bit intimidated by them. She has no fear.

She likes the scent of the soap and says it produced a slick and wonderful smelling lather.

She took to a straight like a duck to water. No cuts, no irritations, no weepers. She said the straight felt smooth and added "It's only a razor, why would I have a problem?" She liked the feeling of how closely the straight cut and plans on using a straight again next time. Of course, I am the one that has to strop because it appears to be beneath her station in life to do such things. She did admit to being puzzled at how to approach her ankles, but said that it only took her a minute or two to find the right methods.

She sends her thanks to @cubancigar2000 for the trumpers & has actually agreed to let me try it sometime.

It's made by the same Chinese company, Rimei. They're generally known with their cheap gillette tech knock off razors. I had few sample blades of rimei and they are ok on adjustables but it looks like they are built for OC razors or 3 piece razors! I had a great shave with gillette new and rimei razor.

Congratulations to your daughter, she is a braver soul than I even after a dozen shaves an no weepers that thing still intimidates me.

Glad you are liking the LPL.

    Monday

Prep: wash with Clear Essentials glycerin soap
    Soap: Dapper Dragon unscented
    Brush: HIS synthetic
    Razor: Feather AS-D2
    Blade: Feather
    After: Cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

The Dapper Dragon soap is an excellent performer. My tub is getting low, so I had to work around the sides to load the brush up. I was afraid I didn't have enough, but when I lathered on my face I got an enormous amount of thick suds. After three passes, I felt bad washing out the large amount still in the brush.

My face feels great after using this soap. I debated whether or not I really needed my customary CeraVe moisturizer, but I decided to play it safe and use it anyway.

I think that we learn fear as we grow. She had absolutely no hesitation.

Yeah, LPL is real nice. I "repayed" the sample of MDC I had received earlier with a sample of LPL. We will find out in a few days how @HolyRollah likes it. It has some wonderful qualities.

Inspired by the above reading from Slipperyjoe, I had to use one of those marvellous inventions known as a safety razor with the sheathed blade.
The little Cadet was up to my expectations and delivered an outstanding shave with the assistance of the Taylors and the Omega boar. The Lime Sec finished with a refreshing twist. Great start to a very busy week. :happy108:
