NICE! I have four NOS J-Wests (tally to change by end of day according to USPS Tracking) and each was laser sharp out of the box = Shavin' Time!

Kevin-Good to see you're back in the fight!

    Today
Unbranded razor marked Sheffield steel Solingen, 6/8 - bought on ebay a year ago and it shaves like a dream
Soap, I made a ubelather with RR XXX & Alvarez Gomez crème with a dab of glycerin
after shave - LaToja splash and Razorock King of the castle balm

Not my best ubelather because I have made some outstanding ones but still a good lather
    I love ubes

ese.jpg ESE 7/8 Solingen silver steel - I stropped the daylights out of it just a simply superb shaver
Tabac crème with Razorocktober soap and a dab of glycerin - best ubelather I have ever made and I have had some good ones
Floid Black Label splash and Razorock Zi Pepino balm

It would be impossible for me to beat todays shave. I did my usual 4 passes but after the first two there was no clicking of whiskers like normal

Yea, though I walk through the valley of soaps, I will fear no lather: for thou art with me; thy brush and thy blade they comfort me.

I honed a couple of smiling Sheffield wedges last night watching the Cardinals beat the Dodgers :rah:, this 13/16 Joseph Smith & Sons Celebrated 3415 and a 7/8 Wm. Greaves &Sons Sheaf Works. The Joseph Smith had a pretty good-sized chip out of the toe, so honing that out was another first for me. Shaved with it this morning and I'm very pleased with the results. Another excellent shave. I wasn't at all sure when I started with the straights that I'd be able set & maintain a truly comfortable edge to shave with, and now a few weeks in I just couldn't be any happier with the progress. Great fun this!

These are bad, bad razors…you dont want one. If you see one up for sale somewhere, don't buy it!
Please notify me and I'll look into disposing of it. :D

Chris, what was your course of action in accomplishing this repair?

An old India stone to get rid of most of the damage and rough-in the curve/smile that looked right, then the DMT 325 to sort of roughly set the new bevel, then 1K for proper bevel setting and then on up through the 4K & 8K and stropping.

Today I decided to try and exactly duplicate yesterdays shave by using the same prep, same lather and same blade stropped the same way. Why? Because yesterday's shave as near perfect and I want to narrow down why

Razor - ESE Solingen silver steel 15/16 stropped 50 linen & 100 leather
Lather - Razorocktober with Tabac crème and glycerin ( ubelather) in a hot scuttle
After shave - Floid black label splash with Razorock Zi Pepino balm

The shave was another spectacular shave so tomorrow I will do it all again but just use the Tabac by itself
