  2. 10/9/2014 Open Comb October

Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol
Razor: Muhle R41 2010 version, H. Boker Master Razor straight razor
    Blade: Astra SP (5)
Brush: Vie Long Horse Hair 23mm knot
    Soap: TSD Lanolin - Sandalwood
After: Home made ASB, Aqua Velva Ice Blue after shave
    Cologne: Slumberhouse - Flou

A nice 2 pass almost BBS shave today. The TSD in Sandalwood whipped up to a yogurt like consistency and always smells great. The R41 2010 version is like using a Gillette 1903 OC with a longer handle. The AV brought the chill this morning. The Slumberhouse - Flou will keep me smelling fresh all day.

    Have a blessed day!

    1924 Silver plated Tuckaway
    Wilkinson Classic blade, 8th use
    RazoRock Green Tea "sensitive skin"
    Van der Hagen brush
    Barbasol brisk AS

I know it's the 8th use of the blade, but after taking three days to get used to the razor, I got a great DFS, almost a BBS even. So I'll keep using the same blade until i notice a problem with it.
After using the new soaps I recently received, the Van der Hagen soap probably won't get replaced if/when I use up the puck I have.

  8. Thanks for the feedback! I have a Parker 99R (very well-made), so I'm used to a heavier razor. I may give the 24C a try.

  13. 11th day of OCtober ...

  14. several months ago,I bought a ever ready 1924. included in the box was an unknown base and cap from a 3 piece razor.
for oc/October I paired this set to my fat handle tech /handle.
no markings are visible on the razor. if any recognize something about it, I would love to know. 20141011_091528-1.jpg 20141011_091227-1.jpg 20141011_091422-1.jpg 20141011_091341-1.jpg

  15. That is awesome.

A few years back I asked my dad and other relatives about their old razors. They all threw them away decades ago. Sad.
  16. Well, it's not the same as on my Grafco-Germany Merkurs (or Adams). Your base plate has lines on the underside. The Merkur doesn't seem to. Also, the bumps on the back of your top piece (whatever they are called) look a bit different from the Merkur'. Yours have what looks like a slightly beveled edge to the bumps where the Merkurs I have are completely rounded like pill capsules. So... No luck there, I'm afraid.

  17. OCtober 11 - Shave 11
Today's Thanksgiving shave is with an unknown OC razor. It had a bent tooth when I got it and with my not so considerable repair skills it now has a missing tooth. The razor will be forever known as Snaggeltooth. The razor is a strange beast in that one side shaves more aggressively than the other, and someone took a grinder to one side of the top cap. That is not where the problem lies however is with the base plate that is out of alignment, and the blade does not sit centered. The shave is milder than any other OC razor I have. I switched sides a lot and did a lot ob b lade buffing and ended up with a respectable BBS shave.

  18. I concur, but that's why I asked for the pics of yours.
    three clues
    1) shape of the locking pins
    2) the lines on the bottom
    3) extreme curve of the top cap

one of the reasons I asked for pics of yours, is because the end teeth are wider.
May never know. shaved nice though.
