Darn it! Now my SAD just cost me a Grant note. I need to know what all the fuss is about with the P.160 and XXX. Of course while I was there...
I picked up a vintage Old Spice Ship Decanter on the bay and wanted to share some history about it. I will start with a pic. This was part of the ad: "From my Great Uncle's pharmacy in Miamisburg Ohio. Ankeney Park Drugs was opened in the 1940's after my Great Uncle returned from WWII service. He ran the store for 30 years before closing the small town shop and going to work for Kmart pharmacy finally retiring in 1996." This is a pic of that store And this was the follow up after I won the bid and sent a note on being a collector. "Good evening Don. Thanks for picking up this old glass ship. It was one of the few odd things we found while cleaning out the basement of the old store. While most items we found like entire boxes of vintage glass pill bottles, medicine droppers and such. This odd ball item was just sitting there on a lower shelf as if it was hiding for some strange reason for decades. I really have no idea of its age or how/why it ended up sitting in the basement. While the fragrance Old Spice has been around for ages and it is completely possible he was the one who used its contents. I don't recall Sherl ever smelling of it. LOL. Then again he closed the store in the old building while I was still a toddler. During my younger years I remember him as that crazy guy at Kmart wearing white lab coat when my mom would go in to pick up some prescriptions. He would always come up with some small toy he had stashed away behind the counter. He'd reach behind the register, grab up a toy, pay for it and reach down over the counter to hand it to me with that GIANT smile he always had on his face. Hope this item brings a grin to your face when it arrives and for years to come once on display with your collection. - Daniel." I will be keeping a copy of this correspondence with my collection, and think about the history from time to time.
The Shave Den Shop delivered today. A bottle of M Bomb. And the much awaited puck of Pumpkin Harvest went right into my newly apprehended Old Spice Mug. A spicy puck in a Spice Mug.

This arrived this afternoon Shavemac Custom Two-Band D01 in Genuine Buffalo Horn 23mm knot 48mm loft Fan shaped
Reading this http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/102835-Gillette-3pc-ID-Help-Please-!!!?highlight= it doesn't seem to be a frankenrazor! It does look like to be a British New Improved. Anyone who can give me clue if that's right? Shaved with it this morning and 5 hours later I'm still rubbing my face... :-D This is a nice and lasting BBS.
The M-bomb is a great way to add a menthol kick to whatever soap you're using. I've aded 5-6 drops to a variety of pucks and enjoyed the chill! Most I've ever added is about 8-10 drops—finishing off the end off the bottle—which was a bit too much! Made my eyes water…. Shown here with another COLD TSD product—the Iced Subzero pre shave balm…..
do you treat the puck once, before the shave. or does it mentholate the puck for its duration. in other words does it go away
There may be some methol residue leftover for the next shave, but not much. I tend to rinse the pucks as part of my post-shave clean up, so if there is any menthol, it is dilute.
so the routine is afew drops on the puck whenever you want a cold blast, skip it if you don't. light leftover won't hurt anything
Today's arrivals: 1. An Aristocrat, which was mis-marked as a Super Speed. 2. Three Merkur open-comb 3-piece razors (two marked as Grafco and one as Adams). All of them need a bit of cleaning and polishing, so I'll have to post before and after photos after I break out the Scrubbing Bubbles and the Maas. Also discovered the Schick Krona with the metal knob that showed up yesterday is, upon closer inspection, missing an end-cap. So I've had to open a case for resolution with eBay and the seller for a refund, since I paid a little bit more than average for that Krona and none of the pictures showed the missing end-cap. (Yes, I know, Caveat Emptor.)
Sure... One says GRAFCO-GERMANY on the lower left, the other one on the lower right. And the third one says ADAMS GERMANY (no hyphen) on the lower right.
thank you. I'm trying to identify a base and cap, that were tagalongs from another razor I bought. see pics on oc/ October thread. thanks again
