Update: I got the razor in today. After careful inspection, and after comparing it to photos on mr-razor and elsewhere, it is definitely a 1940 Gillette Milord. It still retains a majority of the gold on the head, but has lost the lacquer and most of the gold from the handle.

So I am quite pleased. Been hoping to find a decently-priced Ranger Tech or Milord Tech. Going to sterilize it and maybe give it a spin tomorrow... as long as I have time in the morning. It would be a shame to rush things with any DE, especially this one.

    Pics to follow.

I would just polish the remaining Gold off. I have not done this yet but it goes without saying that you need to be careful!

    That's one catchy name........
Not quite as succinct as "Shea Moisture Shave African Black Soap Shave Butter Créme"—but it's a dandy! :D

Go light. They can be potent. If you decide to handle them bare-handed (not advised), don't touch your eyes or other, ahem, sensitive areas.
I've used them in lotions and creams. A little goes a long way.

here a vid where a wet-shaver uses them to make a mentholated glycerin for use in balms, lathers, etc.

I'll give it a try, been wet shaving off and on for over 30 years, but only recently started using a brush and soaps. But I can give my opinion

I think giving an opinion is the most honest definition of review :)

I don't know much about most of the products, but then that could be a good thing. I have no preconceived notions of how good or bad any of it is. My favorite soap right now is Catie's Bubbles LPV. I have a few others I have tried, only one I didn't care for, and it was just because the scent just wasn't for me.

This looks quite similar to a razor I had from the Swedish Razor Company. Shoulderless (long-cut), half-hollow, top & bottom jimps. Good shaver!

It must not have been that good. I did hear something about American companies' razors sometimes actually made in Germany, why not Sweden? The one I ordered is 5/8" also. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same one.

I've had a number of 'good' razors pass through my hands. No knock on those I've sold, but we all have our favorites...

INCOMING: A couple of old sheffield razors in need of some restoration.
I have restored several Frederick Reynolds razors and they really shine when given a 'new' life. This one needs some blade work and probably a new set of scales.
The B.J. Eyre & Co. Late W. Greaves & Sons (1850-1858) looks to be in slightly better shape. We'll see upon further inspection on their arrival.

Germania Cutl. Works Germany. Interesting story, this razor was made from 1900-1938. Why 1938? That is when the factory was seized by the National Socialists because the owners where Jews.

I've really been digging the Fine American blend aftershave so now I'm waiting on the Clean Vetiver, the Fresh Vetiver and the Platinum. I ordered them late last night from Knockout Shave and received notice this morning that they have shipped. Can't beat that.
