Anything wrong with this brush?

This is a Vulfix #2198 Pure Badger that I purchased used and it seems fine when dry. When it's used it explodes as shown.
What do you think?

And you thought something was wrong because.....?

 

Well I'm not a badger brush guy, but about the only thing I see wrong with that brush is I don't own it.

 

I am still learning and was looking at it and when I face lather it seems to stay bulb shaped. Most of the time when I bowl lather it bells out a bit but sometimes it ends up looking like a mushroom. Most other brushes look more compact after the bowl lathering process.

I was thinking it might be a ball joint
If something is going to go wrong it's usually in that area.
