Just take it easy, Kevin. Don't try to run before you're able to walk comfortably. ;)

I had another Skype chat with my student. This was not scheduled, but she looked for me on line, because she missed me. Awww! (This kid is just too adorable.)

Exhausted... But, good weekend. Long, tiring, but good. The band is qualified to go to state marching contest, so San Antonio here we come.
Other than that, long busy week ahead

Bi-annual visit to the endo doc this morning and got a good report. Tight A1c (below 7), no indicators of any present complications (neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy), good cholesterol and BP readings.
Having had to live for nearly 30 years with Type 1 diabetes, I always welcome positive lab reports and good news from doctors for this present ...'thorn in my flesh.' (2 Cor 12:7)

I told my son, who was diagnosed with the same condition six years ago at age 15, that YOU take control of this condition and not let IT control you.
Make smart choices, be conscientious in your management of the disease, and enjoy life in spite of a chronic, lifelong condition.

It is good to know that you are doing well. Your advice to your son is sound.

I've seen first hand (work colleague) of what happens if you make the wrong choices. Sadly, his idea of diabetic control was "Oh well, I'll just take more insulin and continue to eat and drink (including alcohol) whatever I want." His last few years left him practically unable to walk due to neuropathy and he ended up dying of organ failure.

I have fought as long as I could, but a week ago I finally and completely broke down. The family doctor diagnosed a severe burn out. Today the company doctor confirmed that. I've been crying my eyes out and feel as weak as ... well, I dunno. No concentration, headaches, nervousness, tense. You name it. So I'll be home for some time to come. The family doctor thinks it will be next summer before I'll be A-OK again and told me to stay put and only to start with treatment after a month or so. The company doctor is already telling me to start treatment ASAP. Logic, from his point of view: "let's get Mike back to work". I'll head back to the family doctor next week. See what she has to say about that. But for now I'll exercise my proficiency in couch-potatoship. In a week or so I guess I'll start taking daily walks. Hope it won't rain too much by then... ;)

At least I can still shave! :happy088:

Sorry to hear it, Mike. I've been there. Get well, if not soon, then in your own time.

And while you're resting, hop on a plane & come to Staten Island. I will treat you to an archery lesson!
