1. Hey I have that exact brush with a finest silvertip badger knot in it. LOVE that handle, hope you enjoy it as well.

  3. I hope I will too - I have been wanting a 400-3 for quite some time now.
I am thinking about a badger knot in it.
Maybe make it look something like this:

Here's mine. More of a fan knot. But I love it.

  6. Very nice!
I see yours is a 400-4. Am I correct in assuming that the only difference between the 400-3 and 400-4 is size?

  7. I'm guessing so, yours is the only other one I've seen someone have personally. The original fibers were a nasty synthetic, and it took a lot to get them out. If you are replacing the knot, let me know and I'll tell you what I had to go through. Tip... The collar unthreads. And it'll be hell. Lol

But I got mine from a local antique store for 15 bucks.

  8. What a beautiful piece of engineering. Is it horn handled??
Let us know how good it is.
  9. @jasio

It is not a natural horn material, I think it must be acrylic. Brush arrived today and it as beautiful as the photo. Just did a test lather with Mystic Water soap and it is a lather monster, even more than my Omega Pro 48, and that saying a lot. This will be my go-to brush.

  10. I made a trade with a TSD member and I am looking forward to the arrival of this Schick Krona. I am doing the NO-Vember thing, but I might make a slight detour when the Krona arrives. I don't know if I could wait for December. Maybe December will be my Krona month.

  12. I'm pretty sure the 3 and 4 indicated different lengths of the bristle. The top portion unscrews so that barbers could buy one handle and multiple heads to choose between.

The knot is epoxied into the threaded portion with the number on it, so you would just unscrew it and screw in a number 1, 2, 3, or 4. I'm pretty sure.

  13. I would agree.
I've only ever seen 400-3's and 400-4's. Not sure if they were made in any other versions. From what I've read it's an indication of size.
Interesting that it may be the size/length of the bristle - I've always for some reason assumed it was the size of the handle in its entirety. :)

  14. I've never seen any besides 3 and 4 either, I assume they were the most popular perhaps? I don't know, some of this is from research and conjecture. Lol
