The Neillite Four Hundred is an interesting and one side very aggressive example of a dual Closed Comb Bakelite design.

It looks so sweet until you look closely at the left side of the head. A very large exposure for aggressive shaving and then on the right more numerous and smaller scallops for a less aggressive shave.

One of the most agg razors I've ever encounted, the Neillite.

So maybe I'm brainfarting but what's the Pal DE you referred to in the op? Drawing a blank on that one.

The PAL is the English version of the Barbasol design without the Floating Head Mechanism. Still very aggressive. See below.

    Ah.

Are they as chunky feeling as they look?

They are both heavy and solid ... and to me aggressive!

This was one that surprised me that the head was really good for a Parker 3 Piece. I did not change it out with another head which is saying something good about it. The handle is top notch.

A highly criticized razor. I have really enjoyed it and it was my first. It has a scalloped closed comb bar. Nice and aggressive blade gap. Handle is excellent!

I had one of those. It didn't work out for me. I PIFed it. I think it went to a happy home. The handle was great, but it was too aggressive for me.

This is a Schick Magazine that happened to use a closed comb configuration. Both it and the open comb version shown in Open Comb Central are unusual since most Schick designs used solid guard bars.

I would like to read a story about all these fine razors,
    what year is yours?
How many years was that line available?
How did it come to you?
was restoration/ clean up needed? do you use it often? is it sentimental? how does it perform? are there any special characteristics about the type/ or yours?

y'all are doing a fine job on the show. I'd like to have some more tell. please?

I over-simplified, (and failed to read the directions too :ashamed001:)
messed up, and first posted this in the smooth safety bar thread.
So, in a feeble attempt to redeem myself, I'll try this again here.

    P1010191_25pct.jpg

This is a relatively new Merkur razor, the 30C. (first available in 2011 I believe)
According to Gary, due to the scallops in the safety bar this is a closed comb razor,
in the same family with the Muhle R41 and the like.

At any rate, it's a very nice and despite my penchant for open comb razors I find myself reaching
for it more and more. While it is a bit more aggressive than a Super Speed, it's still relatively mild.
What I find most appealing about this razor aside from it being such a smooth shaver is that it just
seems to work well with almost any blade I put in it. Sure, there are a couple of blades that stand out
as exceptional performers, but the difference between those two blades and many others is surprisingly slight.
Overall, I'm very well pleased with this razor and I believe it will see use several times a week
from now on. It certainly has changed my view on solid safety bar razors.
The 30C above shown above has a relatively short handle. If you prefer a longer handle, the 20C is available.

snagged this Lutz razor, NOS German slant. I know little about slants but liked this one because it can be used as two different aggressions. If anyone can share any info on the Lutz, I would gladly accept it
