Saw a thread about your favorite Gillette, and thought I'd ask the logical next question: Of the Non-Gillette DE's you own, which is your current favorite? For me, it's honestly my vintage open-comb Merkur. I like my Maggard MR6B because of its weight, and I like my Merkur 34C as a daily driver, but there is something about the classy little vintage 3-piece Grafco Merkur I have that draws me to it. Maybe it's the bas-relief profile of Mercury on the handle. Or the fact that it's compact yet classically styled. Or the fact that it seems to be my mildest open comb razor. Not sure... I just know it is one razor I don't plan to let go of.
Well if my Weber didn't suffer form a wavy blade it would be a Weber. Maybe I will buy another eventually.
as of this morning I would have to say that my favorite is the Lutz slant. before today I would have said the open comb Cadet and before I got the cadet it was any Gillette slim adj
I am partial to the Segal Unitary even though blades are scarce. It has a perfect weight and i like the handle a lot. I also think its neat.
Not very fancy, but my DE89 is my current favorite non-Gillette. But I've got an unbranded OC that is very nice also. They're completely different shaves. Both nice, bit different.
My Merkur 34c HD is the only non Gillette razor, and it was my first DE razor that I got in May. I also have a travel version of this razor that has a 3 piece handle.
