youngunn Where's my TSD aftershave balm???

    Thanks buddy

It's a vintage Avon aftershave bottle, belonged to my wife's grandpa. The mug is vintage Avon as well like from the 70s I believe. I like em

    Palmolive with Menthol
    Merkur HDC w/Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless (1)
Cold water, witch hazel, Skin MD, TSD AS Milk - Irish Spring
    Face & jawline - W/X/A Neck - W/X Touch up

I'm using some soaps and creams I haven't used in a while. I'm trying to decide whether to keep them or PIF them. My lathering technique must have improved, because I'm achieving much better lather and results than when I used them several months ago. The Palmolive may replace C.O. Bigelow as my "go to" cream. The menthol was much stronger than I remember. I really felt it when I splashed on the cold water . . . BRRRRR!

I haven't ventured into using NOS vintage blades for a shave yet, but I may do it soon. I just acquired a few. I imagine it like opening an old bottle of wine... you never know what you're going to get, but once you open it, you should finish it off.

    Prep: CeraVe cleanser
    Soap: Mystic Water sensitive
    Brush: Oscar11 boar
    Razor: Feather AS-D2
    Blades: Astra SP
    After: Cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

The Mystic Water soap made a great lather. The "Sensitive" version has marigold extract and sea buckthorn oil to sooth the skin, which gives it a mild herbal scent.

I am learning to appreciate a good boar brush. This classy Oscar11 brush has a great Omega 49 knot that feels great on my face when face lathering.

    Thor's Day:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Stirling Bay Rum
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo OC
    Blade: Bolzano Superinox (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (1, 2)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Captain's Choice Cat o' Nine Tails AS splash
Cologne: Gigember Estragone by Dr. Vranjes

As threatened promised, the FaTip came back into the rotation today. Plenty of prep time and extra care loading my brush - pressing it in harder than I typically do - finally produced pretty good lather with the Stirling, which already provides good slip and skincare. The angle I use with the FaTip is probably pretty close to how some our L.O.S.E.R. shavers describe their approach with a single-edge, as the cap of the razor is nearly flat against my face; with the Bolzano, this provides a good cutting angle that I hear more than feel as it mows down stubble. I did catch a minor weeper on my Adam's Apple on the XTG pass, but that particular spot is the one I'm most prone to see blood from, so I'm not blaming the tools there. Had I the time, I would have gone for the 3-pass, BBS shave, but with an early class, I had settle for a DFS 2-pass shave with some nice burn from the Cat o' Nine.

Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Gillette Super Speed 40s type, Imperial Razor Warranted Barbers Favorite straight razor
    Blade: Wilkinson Sword (6)
    Brush: Black Badger
    Soap: Rose of Bulgaria SC
After: Home made ASB, Osage Rub after shave
    Cologne: Une Fleur De Cassie

A great Darn Fine Shave + was had this morning. I broke out the black badger to whip up the Rose of Bulgaria and I was not disappointed. A wonderful rose/flowery scent filled the room and the lather did a great job protecting my skin. The SS and the Barbers Favorite were singing a lovely duet. The Osage Rub brought the arctic chill and the Une Fleur De Cassie will have me smelling great all day.

    Have a blessed day!

    Thursday:
hot shower w/Musgo Real Lime Basil bar soap
    Maggard Lime PSO
    Gillette RedTip 2+ passes
    Rapira Platinum Lux (1)
    BurmaShave boar
Musgo Real Lime Basil cream in a warm mug
    Thayers unscented w/aloe
T&H West Indian Limes AS balm

Enjoyed yesterday's first time with a Rapira brand blade so I tried a different Rapira blade today. My shave wasn't as good as yesterday but I don't think the blade had anything to do with it. The razor seemed to drag a bit and it's the same sensation I've had other times that's led me to believe some PSO's and or cream/soap combinations don't have as much glide as others. I'm inclined to blame the PSO but it's just an untested hunch.

    The "Executive" Decision...

I almost feel guilty when I use this razor, but it provides one heck of a shave. I used some Tiki Kon soap, and included a lather shot using my new mug. Great shave to help balance out another busy day. Have a good one gents.

The C.O. Bigelow Shaving Cream face-lathered very easily with my Omega Pro 98 Boar Brush. Two passes with my '47 Gillette Super Speed and Astra SP blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Here's my honest and unbiased opinion on the Palmolive Menthol cream - it's easily a :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: on my Cracky Wacky Ticky Tacky Menthol Scale. I never used the Bigelow cream, but the Proraso Green cream or soap both rank as only a :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: but no more than that. :)
