    11/10/2014 Menthol Monday!! Wooo Hoo!!

Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Star Pat. 1912, John Jay Velvet Shaver straight razor
Blade: GEM PTFE coated SE blade (3)
    Brush: Turkish #6
Soap: Sterling - Margaritas In The Arctic
After: Home made ASB, Osage Rub after shave
    Cologne: Avon - Trazzara

A cold Darn Fine Shave + on this cold 37 degree morning. The #6 whipped up the the MITA well. The MITA brought on the first wave of chilliness. The Star and the Velvet had no problems with mowing down the stubble. The Osage Rub brought the chill to the next level for about 20 minutes. The Tarazza finished off the shave and will keep me smelling good for the rest of the day.

    Have a blessed day!!

    Menthol Monday:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Stirling Glacial Obsidian
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (1)
    Passes: WTG (1)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS splash
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

I shouldn't have shaved today, as I still could see the results of yesterday's bloody shave in the mirror this AM. I'm stubborn, though, and wanted the menthol cooling; I also wanted to look half-way presentable because we've got a guest speaker today. One pass in with my milder razor, however, and the weepers were re-opened, so I had to call a SAS sufficient.

    Monday

    Prep: CeraVe cleanser
    Soap: Razorock Boston Tea Party
Brush: Burma Shave with TGN synthetic knot
    Razor: Feather AS-D2
    Blade: Feather
    After: Cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

Good, comfortable shave. In contrast to my normal routine of unscented soaps, the Razorock soap today has a gentle sweet tea fragrance. It doesn't bother my face if I only use it occasionally. Excellent performance from the Razorock.

    Weber PH Bulldog

    Semogue BC Mistura

    Superior 70 Bay Rum

For as mild a razor as it is, the shave lasts well into the evening for me. The only thing missing is losing a couple layers of skin from a more aggressive razor.

Had an excellent shave this menthol morning. WD Boar whipped up a mountain of cold frosty lather. The combination of Gold Bond Lotion and Proraso green gave a cooling finish to a great shave. Have a good week folks!

Fractal filters aside, Mike, what do you think of the IK soap?
I'm a big fan of most shea-butter products—I have the Institut Karite balm, soap and cream. The scent took some getting used to, but I love what the products do to my skin.
A bit pricey when compared to some other products, which possibly explains the rarity of IK sightings….

Shave cream & balm shown here…..

I love using the IK soap. It is nice, soft and creamy. No problems with the scent. Since I haven't got a bowl free for it yet, I use it as a stick. I had the joy of having it given to me. :)

The balm is a great compliment to the soap.
Initially, the scent reminded me of cheap Jergen's hand cream, but I've adjusted….:D

Monday Nov 10, or, 'got the day off, plenty of time to experiment'

    Prep- Kiel face fuel
    Pre- homemade oil mix
    Water- cold
    Soap- arko
    Brush- erskine vintage
Razor- Burham / Morley single edge
    Blade- cvs store brand
    After- Thayer's lavender
After that- vintage Avon Leather aftershave
And then- Every Man Jack lotion
    finally- vintage Tally-Ho talc
I was a bit worried about this shave. But once this razor came into my possession, I knew I had to use it. Better blades would have been nice, but I couldn't wait another day. I wanted too do this on my day off, so I could take as much time as needed. And actually, I got a rather good shave out of it. Surprising, as the razor is basically a cheap tin clip meant to hold the blade. The handle is hollow and very lightweight. It feels like you could crush the thing in your hand. But the engineering is good. Worked out well, and despite the low weight, and low cost construction, it is a robust little contraption.

    Cream: TOBS Grapefruit
    Blade: Feather (1)
Pre shave: Tree Hut Shea body wash Mango
Post shave:T.N. Dickerson’s Witch Hazel, Jack Black balm, Old Spice original Shulton 1980 glass AS (gift from my father in law)

Whipped up the TOB Grapefruit in a minute with the badger. Nice slick cushion and I really like the sent, reminds me of summer. I really like the slim and next to my FB it is my go to razor. The heavy handle and head gave me a nice smooth shave with no pressure with a Feather blade. The Shea Mango for the pre-shave helped give me a nice no burn shave. My technique is getting better on my neck, especially with a slick lather and sharp blade. The T.N. Dickerson's WH felt good on my face and that natural witch hazel scent was nice and fresh. After cleaning my razor and a little spray of isopropyl alcohol to help dry the innards, I smoothed on some Jack Black. And splash or two of that great Old Spice, perfect!
