Best Shave of My Life Edition



Prep: Dr. Bronner's Rose Castille Soap, Somerset's Pre-shave Oil
Razor: Wilkinson Sword Empire 7 Day
Blade: Wilkinson Sword Wedge, "Monday"
Brush: Rubberset 400-4 Silvertip
Cream: Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood
Shave: Depth at 75% aggression, 4 passes: WTG, XTG, RXTG, ATG
Post: Pinaud Clubman, Axe Sensitive Balm

Just wow.

I made the perfect amount of lather. Perfect consistency. Once I figured out the angle on the razor, it was the absolute best shave I've ever had. Period.

Perfect BBS, and I really mean BBS. NO blood. NO weepers. How is a razor this old this good? The blades, I thought for sure would need time on a hone. Nope. I stropped the blade in the razor and it is the sharpest blade I've ever felt in my life. Sharper than a feather but better because it's rigid wedge shape doesn't allow it to flex like DE blades can.

I finished up with some Clubman and cleaned the razor really good, dipped the blade in alcohol, and put it back in its display cabinet.

It was so good I might shave with it again this week. It is more than just a novelty. It's that good.

Oh and I finally managed to not shave my moustache off. Trying to grow one but on autopilot I keep shaving it off.

The Glacial Obsidian by itself is cold to the point where it could be uncomfortable for anyone not able to tolerate intense menthol. It's a real hyper-mentholated soap.

It was like shaving with a straight, but it takes care if the hard parts for you. So cool.

 

An then realize you've got one for each day of the week! Talk about cool!

 

I need to try that Osage sometime =)

 

Shave of the day, menthol monday

Pre- Hot shower, Lush Coalface face wash soap

Soap/cream- Proraso Eucalyptus & Menthol

Brush- Omega boar 10810

Razor- Gillette Slim adjustable

Blade- LADAS

Post- Cold water rinse, Speick aftershave and Nivea original aftershave balm

First time I used LADAS blade. Man it was smooth! I dont wanna jump to fast conclusions BUT, I think this is the best blade I've tried so far.

Of course Im gonna try them a couple more times before i make up my mind. But man i got a great shave with this blade.

Proraso Green delivered a nice shave, it doesnt disappoint

 

I just took some Dramamine ! Much better now.

Such a great shave today. Had some free time this morning so I thought I would take out the ol red point straight.

Pre shave: Hot Shower and HTGAM atg soap
Cream: l'occitane cade
Brush: Plisson synthetic
Razor: Red Point straight(belonging to my great grandfather)
Aftershave: Crown Shaving co.



Anyone who hasn't tried the l'occitane shaving products needs to take note, this stuff is guuuuud

Gaaahh! You just sold me on that razor! Curse you! I like a lot of the early proprietary type razors just because I find them to be beautiful...levers, mechanisms, attachments, fitted cases. It just doesn't get better than that stuff... but I can live without something if all it has is looks. But if they are good shavers too? Aw man, something else for the list. I guess I will summon the courage to go on somehow.
