WEDNESDAY Evening Shave for Tomorrow Such a great shave my last time…had to have a repeat performance! Have a great Wednesday, all!
Wednedsay Prep: hot shower, hot washing cloth Brush: Travel King boar Soap: Arko stick Razor: Ugly Duckling Blade: Gillette 7 o'Clock platinum Shave: 3-pass + touch-up Post: cold water rinse, Jeris Musk for Men Stellar BBS shave. Gotta love the Duckling
Chilly Barbershop I used a little menthol today in the form of Proraso Green pre shave and AQ Ice Blue Sport to add a nice chill to the excellent Maggard's London Barbershop soap and AS. The soap lathers as easily as the best soaps I've tried, providing a great set up for Der Vorschlaghammer to slice down. I thought I might have gotten too close today, but the Maggard's aftershave quickly calmed down that feeling. My face feels great. Prep: Proraso Green pre barba Soap: Maggard's London Barbershop Brush: HIS Razor: Der Vorschlaghammer Blade: Astra SP AS: Maggard's London Barbershop, Aqua Velva Ice Blue Sport
Wednesday: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/7 AM day 3 Stirling Glacial Wintergreen SS Stirling Glacial Wintergreen WH Givenchy Pour Homme EdT My love affair with Rod's Glacial creations goes on and on - the Wintergreen (this one's almost finished!) gave me everything I ask for with its wonderful scent, lather, and mega-freezing sensation. It also provides the best skincare you can imagine. The matching witch hazel hits you with the most powerful menthol effect an aftershave product could possibly have, and leaves your skin feeling great. This 7 am blade is on its 3rd day but it performs like it's still brand-new. What an awesome shave I had!
Odin's Day: Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger Soap: Ginger's Garden Oakmoss Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (2) Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (2, 3, 4) Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Pinaud Clubman AS splash Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy I took the day off from shaving yesterday to let my various weepers heal, and today reaped the rewards. A return to the Ginger's Garden soap produced enough slick lather for twice as many passes as I used, although the extra care I took in prep resulted in relatively cold water for the first pass, which seemed to make the Bic tug ever so slightly. Once I'd added more hot water, things were as smooth as glass, including an ATG pass aided by finally - after how many months? - figuring the ways to contort my facial expressions to get the BBS to extend to my slowly emerging jowls. The Clubman and Xeryus finished off one of the better shaves I can recall.

Wednesday morning - Prep - Noxzema & hot towel Lather - Valobra Crema di Sapone Purissima & suribachi Brush - Semogue SOC boar reset @ 47mm Razor - Wm. Greaves 7/8 2 pass Warm water rinse & cold water splash Alum block & Witch-hazel AS There's a spot of rain in the forecast but this morning it's clear and a bit warmer - 21ºF/-6ºC @ 06:00 and 60ºF/15ºC by this afternoon with plenty of sunshine. Maybe some rain tomorrow. Kicked off my hump day with an old Sheaf Works wedge and some veggie lather courtesy of the Valobra. The usual hot towel & Noxzema prep and alum & witch-hazel post, as per. All together another excellent shave. The big Greaves isn't the most nimble of razors, but it's smooooth - like a '64 Continental.

Wednesday 11/12/14 Prep: glycerin soap Brush: 20mm Whipped dog set deep Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery Razor: Gillette New Long Comb Blade: Ladas Lather: PDP Witch Hazel: Generic unscented Post: Avon Musk Marine After Shave Conditioner I have been using french soaps almost exclusively for a couple of months now. I am coming to the conclusion that PDP does not perform as well as the other french soaps I have been using. PDP is not bad. In fact, it is quite good. But, it just doesn't seem to have that "extra bit" that makes a soap superb. The other soaps seem to lather easier, to be slicker, or to be more cushioning than PDP seems to be. Still, I had a great 3 pass shave and my face feels very nice.
