Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion
Razor: Schick Adjustable Injector
Blade: Schick (6)
Lather: Cella
Brush: Oscar11 w/ Omega 20248 Knot
Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion

I love the scent of Cella. It provides very, very good glide and cushion, but the scent is absolutely first rate.

Have a great day!

Shave of the day, Wed, Nov 19, Or, it's how cold out?!

Music- Giuda, let's do it again
Soap- vintage Williams
Mug- vintage scuttle
Razor- Schick Krona
Blade- Derby
Rinse- Thayer's lavender
Aftershave- Oland
Lotion- score
Cologne- Oland

So I start my day with a brisk walk. Nothing zany, 2 miles each way. Today, my walk was the first really chilly morning this fall... a scant 19 F (-7 to everyone not in the usa). I realize that many of you are scoffing at a 19 degree morning. I know, I was born and bred in Michigan... but now, and since late 2001, I live in North Carolina. It has utterly destroyed my northern 'you call this cold?' endurance, and replaced it with 'wait, how cold is it?' trepidation. I am not proud of this fact. But it is what it is.
So upon my return to the house, I knew warmth was needed. So I pulled out my ugly scuttle, and put a pot of water on the stove. I filled the scuttle when the water was just under boiling. When tiny bubbles were just starting to form on the bottom of my pot... a friend off mine's grandmother used to call this 'smiling water'. It was a beautiful thing. Nice hot lather. The heat also seemed to make the lather much more thick and dense. I still used cold water during the shaving process, but I really liked the effects that the very hot water caused. I am going to experiment over the next few days with different soaps and temperatures, before I decide to alter my routine, but right now, for today, it was perfect.
Also, I finally used my Schick Krona. It is a nice razor. Pretty mild, pretty maneuverable. I can see this being an excellent beginner's DE. I only have a few long handled razors. I like them when I use them, but it isn't a feature I would seek out. But overall, the Krona was a nice piece of the morning's puzzle. I helped bring everything together into a very, very enjoyable shave.

I could be wrong but I thought one of the fine aftershaves was inspired by that cologne.

I like to see your reports on MTO. Many newbies start on it, and it is cool to see a DE vet review it. I got good shaves from mine, nice to see it work for you also.

Nice scuttle. I am looking forward to December when I will be using my new Krona.
So how do you use your skuttle? Soak brush, load brush, ... What next? Do you face lather?

Wednesday Morning 19Nov14 was a Hot Water Shave! I did use the WTG-XTG-ATG method, that has worked very well each day that I shaved, after I took my shower this morning. I really did need to shave! I shaved this morning again using both my ATT Atlas R-1 88mm Kronos Handle, and my Schick Xtreme 3 Disposable Razor. Also I did change my Razor Blade,I also used a new Schick Xtreme 3 Disposable Razor, I had a BBS Shave, I had a nine day growth. I have been having so much problems with both hands going numb, I am dropping my razor it seems like every time I rinse it out. Also using my "Oscar11" it's a lot easier to hold. I wanted to use my "Oscar11/Old Corps Brush " but with my hands going numb I don't want to drop it. So I will see how I feel tomorrow about shaving.

@KnockOut Shave...Yes, the aftershave L' Orange Noir by fine is supposed to be a match. I'm hoping to find some of the 3rd generation formula. The one with less menthol. Or the matching splash by razorock SoZ.

It warmed up to 27 this morning. The C.O. Bigelow Shaving Cream face-lathered very easily with my Omega Pro 98 Boar Brush. Two passes with my '47 Gillette Super Speed and Astra SP blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I have tried it a few different ways. I have tried soap in top, I have tried soap in separate bowl, lather in top. Today it was a combination...

I broke of a small, maybe one inch piece of soap.
Put the soap in the top of scuttle.
I put the hot water in the base of the scuttle.
Dip brush in water, start swirling brush around the soap chunk.
I used a pretty wet brush, there's drain holes in the scuttles top area, so it works itself out.
As the soap bit is small, it is hard to tell when the brush is loaded, so I occasionally scraped the brush on the rim of the scuttle.
Did that until a scrape of the brush left behind lather, not soap film, or suds.
Then I moved to a shallow bowl and whipped the lather up.

I don't face lather, I have tried it. Honestly I can't really do it effectively. Today's scuttle lather was a bit work intensive. It sounds like a lot, but it went quickly enough that the lather was still toasty warm on my face by time that step rolled around. But I liked it. That is sort of the fun for me.

Hot shower with lavender Shea butter soap.

Blade.... ladas(4)
razor.... Gillette ball end tech
brush... seafoam b&b essential boar
soap.... tsd pumpkin harvest
Aftershave. . Thayers lavender witch hazel

First shave with tsd soap. Wow. Lathered like crazy. The scent was even better after making the lather. it has a very good post shave skin feel to it. I'm impressed.
