despite the pic I used Proraso Red

For some reason I've never been a fan of the performance of Proraso but like the scent of the red. This mornings shave was mediocre. Cutting the whiskers on my chin will tell the tale on blade sharpness and today it was lacking. Back to the stones. Have a good one.

    SATURDAY
Relaxed morning shave using the IK 'shea butter' products.
Besides the MEM olive shave cream, the Institut Karite cream is only other cream I've been using as I prefer soaps over creams. This cream does not dry out my face—as many soaps do.
For those interested in getting into straight razor shaving, I highly recommend doing so with a model made by Bresduck, Inc. Also used trademarks "DUBL-DUCK", "LIFETIME", "NAPOLEON", "BEAU BRUMMEL", "DEUTSCH", "SATINEDGE" (ca. 1930 - 1952); firm became known as Pearlduck in 1952.
Simply great shavers that take a great, smooth edge; not too big a blade. Some of the smoothest shaves I've ever had were with either this Beau Brummel or the Dubl Duck Goldedge.
    Have a great Saturday, all!

Thank you for the compliment David. The handle is from elite razor and the material is Blue Lapis. It reminds me of sapphire which is my wife's birthstone.

Mild & light snow here this morning, 28ºF/-2ºC, maybe 3 inches on the deck this morning and that's all but melted. 45ºF/7ºC and overcast this afternoon, chance of a little more snow, but not much. Excellent shave with the old Savage this morning, and the Culmak Omega is coming along nicely too. The Cella is top shelf stuff, always. Have a good 'un folks.

They're like playing an entirely different ball game. Another phrase they bring to mind that I used to hear describing Eric Dickerson or Jim Brown, "they're like a man among boys"

It is thirty-eight and sunny this morning. This is the last time the C.O. Bigelow Shaving Cream will face-lathered very easily with my Omega Pro 98 Boar Brush for a while. Two passes with my '47 Gillette Super Speed and Astra SP blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... It has been a good run. Been there... Done that... On to December.

Prep: Shower, cromwell&Cruthers oil, little bit of vaseline
    Brush: Omega 10066 Boar
Razor: Gillette Slim on 6-7 and the Dobo 5/8th's for precision work under the jawline
    Blade: Personna platinum
    Cream: Proraso green
Post shave: Osage Rub and a little vaseline.

I decided to give Proraso another go today after being unimpressed with the cream and a little overwhelmed with the scent a couple months back. The scent was still a little strong for me, but manageable. With a little added glycerin, this stuff made for a slick lather and a great shave. I'll have to reconsider it; not sure about the protection it will give when I use my straight for my whole shave, but we'll see!

    Hi Friends,

moments ago i endet a truly wonderful shave. The weather outside is cold, so i decided to use a matching soap. Here is my Equipment:

    -Soap: Calani Eis Engel
    -Brush: Scott Pavkovich "Gold Coast"
    -Blade: Croma Diamant
-Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89 Head with a Jürgen Hempel Handel
    -Aftershave: Myrsol Agua Balsamica

Fantastic shave. The Chroma is perfect in combination with the EJ DE89 Head. Gentle, smooth and thoroughly. The soap smells wonderful and it was lathered up with a brush, which holds water very well and releases the lathery goodness in a way, that i looked like Santa Claus.

I wish all of you a happy 1st Advent. Enjoy it

Have a great time and take care.

    Greetings
    Thorsten
