I'm sure that with the recent amazing $30 deal on the L'Occitane Plisson brushes a number of us, including myself, ended up owning one - and some of you may have had one for quite some time. Regardless, welcome to The L'Occitane Plisson Club (LPC). Post your impressions of the brush - regardless if you're a first time user or have had it for some time. How does it work for face vs bowl lathering, etc? I received mine end of this past week but have yet to use it (it's up to bat tomorrow morning). I really like how it arrived in a nice, sturdy box with a plastic stand - that I may or may not end up using. For those that don't have one but am considering one, here is a comparison of the size of it to an SOC boar brush; (and yes, shoddy iPhone photos. I blame the camera!) Just feeling the brush I have to say it is very, very soft. I did some dry stroked against my chin...then switched to the SOC..and it felt almost barbaric to use such a rough thing against my skin Having said that, the truth is of course in how it performs.....
I love mine, it's the softest thing this side if a cloud. Really wonderful with soft creams. A lather monster if loaded appropriately. With the recent prices it is a bargain beyond comprehension! (Guess that's why they sell so quick!)
Thanks mr celebrity podcaster When you say 'loaded appropriately' what are some tips to get the most out of it?
I'm still waiting on mine, but I did pick up his little brother and was thoroughly impressed by the lather created by such a small brush.
Use creams, bloom with warm/hot water pucks to soften soap pucks...if it's to hard switch to a brush with backbone (this one doesn't have much if any!) Load a bit more than you normally would with pucks / keep an eye on the brush load until you get a feel / eye for it. Is it all worth it in the end? Yes!
They have a small travel brush too. I was in the mall Saturday and stopped by the L'Occitane store and they had several on hand. It's small but made well. I used it this morning and really liked it. It's stiff, similar to a boar brush, but it's still soft like the plisson.
I'm very happy with mine! I have not been that excited about super soft brushes before, but this one really performs well and is definitely unique in my den.
I haven't seen this thread. I received mine as a bonus gift on my birthday from the love of my life AKA She who must be obeyed. This brush is really nice. Very soft tips and for me enough backbone. I mostly facelather with it and I never thought it lacks backbone or missed anything else. I have bowl lathered with it too, works great. Even though I might not be able to lather MWF with it or other hard soaps I don't really care. I have lathered hard soaps with success(not MWF) but it is better with creams and softer soaps. I wish they would have discounted it to 30$ here in sweden. I think I would have bought 1-2 more just so that I can secure having one for a long time =) but I guess there will always be other synthetics that performs similarly
My first shave with my new Plisson went great. My only other synthetic brush was the Whipped Dog, a nice brush in its own right. The Plisson was shipped in a nice hard card box, also included was a plastic brush holder, I didn't expect that. The Plisson is soft and holds quite a bit of soap, I found no issues with a lack of backbone. If your looking to add a synthetic brush to your den, I highly recommend a L'Occitane Plisson.
These are very nice brushes and, possibly, the best synthetic there is. However, I don't think they would ever replace my badgers.
This brush was my daily driver for the NOvember NO variation challenge. I prefer face lathering and this brush feels great and makes excellent lather. Never shed a hair. Dries in a flash. Holds enough water for my style of lather building. My only wish is that it had better heat retention.
Not to high jack the thread, im considering trying one. I have only tried badgers till now. I popped in the local L'Occitane store that just opened in town. The standard Plisson brush was $30 (even though it is listed at $58 on the Canadian website) and the travel brush was $36. I am considering making the synthetic my travel brush. Has anyone tried the travel brush? Is it worth it ? Or should I just get the standard version? The built in travel case is appealing, but the brush looks small. Any insight as always is much appreciated.
