I have not seen anyone using this brand of soap yet that I could find, and picked some up today at my local green earth health foods vegan type place today. Pics... So I used it in my shave tonight, and what do I think of it, you may ask? Well. The smell is fresh and is hard to explain for me... It has bergamot, vetiver, sandalwood, cardamom, vanilla, myrrh, black pepper... It reminds me of walking through the garden center at Home Depot or something. Kinda earthy and green smell to it. Not unpleasant though. Lather, it was super easy to get a lather going, soaked my brush for 5 minutes and shook it out a few times and swirled. I didn't need to really load it up, I face lathered it and it didn't dry out or disappear. It stayed thick and creamy for me. The cushion and glide were right there, the lather was pretty stiff and I had to rinse the razor out after just a couple of swipes. Better than too thin for me. It had enough slip to it. Skincare was great, it has shea and coconut and other oils in it. Price was 11.99 where I bought it. Just a tad high for me but not outrageous. It's a decent sized puck... I felt good about the purchase after using it. The scent could be just a little better, but the lather is so thick I don't care. They also make PSO and aftershave oil and moustache wax, beard oil... Anyways. There you go. Also the box is fun. They have a sense of humor.
There is a health food store about 25 minutes away that just opened and stocks this. They also stock the other aforementioned products. I was tempted to buy a puck until I remembered how my last experience was with a relatively unknown soap (Herban Cowboy) from a health food store went. Now I will give it a shot. Ingredient list seems up my alley, as does the scent (sucker for any type of sandalwood). This new store also stocked a few brushes. I wish I remembered the names of them, perhaps I'll go down this week and snap a few pics.
I've seen this soap in stores before, but passed based on the scent alone. Thanks for taking one for the team and giving it a shot. Speaking of shot....no soap review is complete without a lather shot...lol. Nice review and thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the review. I've seen this soap at Whole Foods before but never picked it up. I may have to grab one next time I'm there.
Thanks for the review. I've seen it also and wondered about it. it shows up occasionally in posts, seems mixed reviews and in my mind gets mixed up with Herban Cowboy which I believe usually gets poor reviews.
I don't want to rain on anybody's parade but I picked some up in Denver last fall. I liked the scent but found the lather and post shave lacking. JMO, it might be a great soap but it didn't work out well for me. P.S. I didn't mess around and try to and figure things out with it either so I might not have given it a fair shake.
No problem I think maybe if you messed with a bit more you might find it to have good results. I just mixed up some more and I got instant thick lather. I'm using a New Forest Badger so there's that too in case you were using a boar or synth
Ahhhh, much better. I see minimal bubbles and I'm jealous of that new forrest brush. Pretty good youngunn.
Saw it at $9.99 at my local co-op organic grocery tonight. Passed on it based on price alone. Also I'm not at risk of running out of shaving soaps that work well for me. (or creams either)
I have seen this at Natural Grocers and Whole Foods both times passing due to the cost compared to my other soaps which work great for less. I will keep an eye out now and possibly grab some next time I see it. A lesser man would insert an under the breath "that's what she said." BUT I am not a lesser man so I just thought it and giggled to myself.
while I did not care for this soap, other people think it works good. I also found this at a local store n wanted to give it a try. as much as I want to like this soap... I just think in my opinion there are soaps that work better for less money.
