I've been told this J will be more aggressive then my I models.

I just got a lot of Gems with two prefect G-Bars. They are really cool little razors. Going to do my Shave of the Day with one. The lot also had a couple Juniors, a Bullet tip Micro, a push button and some featherweights. And all but the juniors look unused. Which is no big deal, as I already have a perfect version of that style junior. The best part is I got them all for around $25 total. I love collecting Gems!

It's interesting that the G-Bars are often in such great condition... I guess either they weren't very loved by their owners and got put away after just a few shaves...or they are made with some very heavy duty plating :)

GEM Featherweight all cleaned up and also ready to be put into use :)

Very true. Maybe the last few models of Gems have thicker plating... they certainly should have known what didn't work with the earlier razors. Not unusual to see total plating loss. I also just noticed that my two new G Bars are different. One has texture nearly all the way around the handle with only a hairline break in the pattern, the other has a thick blank strip running up the front side of the knurling. Variations within models! Woohoo! Now I can safely justify buying multiples... they might be different after all.

I realize that it is likely not as related as it appears, but the Micromatic case, and the handles of featherweight razors look to be the same material. If so, I wish they had made handles out of the colors of the stuff (bakelite? It isn't catalin, because it's white shades turn yellow) my MM cases are... green and burgundy. That would be cool.

I found the reverse. My I is slightly more aggressive than my J (plural) but my F is more aggressive than the I.

On the way to work, I stopped off at the post office, and picked up one of my two packages ( the other won't be available until tomorrow afternoon :bounce015: ) In the package I have what I believe is a Shick G model. There is no writing on the top of the razor, butterscotch coloring, with a line in the handle, which leads me to believe it is plastic, and not bakelite. There are two patent numbers on the left underside. The wording around the spring rivet is "EVERSHARP SHICK" (all the same size, and filling the space around the round spring rivet.) The blade guard has parallel grooves in it. When I get to my home computer, I will attach pictures. AND SO IT STARTS. Tomorrow, I will get my I1, and later this week, or early next, my GEM Micromatic Clog Pruf in brass. I can hardly wait for tomorrow night, when I get to shave with the G.

Two shaves in, on the Shick G, and I love it. I also got the I1 in the mail, and it looks to be an absolutely clean, wonderful razor. I will call this my Birthday razor, as the range is 1955-1958 (I will assume that the I1 was earlier rather than later) When the clog pruf comes in, I should be done for a while. The DE razors seem to be getting pushed to the back of the shave drawer for some reason....

If it's like my drawer, the DE's got pushed so far back they disappeared...I know I gave some away, but now I found out I only have one, ha ha. I don't remember that happening but at least I still have all the razors I like to shave with...ha!

You know it's bad when one receives the try a blade SE blade pack (x4 to get a real feel for the blades) and the GEM hasn't even crossed the border into Canada yet. Nope , I don't have a problem...

Nope...sounds to me like your proplems are being solved.....8^)
The dude down at the 7/11 tonight copping the newest multi bladed monster and canned goo...thats the cat with the problem.....ha,ha..

I would consider that I1 most definitely to be your birth injector, as the I1's and I2's were manufactured concurrently from 1955 through 1958...

    And hey.....get excited.....You're gonna love that Clog-pruf....:love055: A real functional Art Masterpiece....:happy088:
