    12/8/2014 Menthol Monday!!

Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Merkur 37C, Hamburg Concave Quick Cutter straight razor
    Blade: Astra SP (4)
    Brush: Turkish #6
    Soap: Stirling - Frozen Tundra
After: Home made ASB, Osage Rub after shave
    Cologne: 007

A cool 36 degree Menthol Monday morning. The #6 whipped up the Frozen Tundra into a wonderful lather. The Frozen Tundra felt like I was rubbing an ice cube on my chin. The Quick Cutter and the 37C mowed down the stubble with no trouble at all. The Osage Rub kept the freezing feeling going and the 007 will keep me smelling good all day.

    Have a blessed day!

    Menthol Monday:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm
    Brush: Simpsons 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Stirling Glacial Obsidian
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (1, 2)
Post: Cold water rinse, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue AS splash
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

Soaked the Stirling Glacial Obsidian longer than I do my Ginger's Garden or RazoRock soaps, and loaded my Simpsons brush half again as long as I do with those soaps. The result was more than passable lather, though not in the league of those contenders - or even of the sample from Rod I used yesterday. My results from yesterday were still so close that I only needed 2 passes for nearly BBS results, though I managed to find that same tiny weeper on the Adam's Apple again. All in all, a reasonably frosty shave on quite the frosty morn.

Wow, the Glacial Obsidian's lather buried my face, not to mention how frigid it was. In fact it felt colder today than it ever did. This soap kicks the Yeti Snot's butt in terms of menthol power! ;) :)

Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Scots Pine Bath Soap
    Soap: Stirling Ozark Mountain
    Razor: Gillette NEW Short Comb
    Blade: Personna Med Prep (5)
    Brush: Elite Razor Silvertip-24mmx50mm
    Aftershave: Country Club Southern Oud

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angles for my beard)

Stirling Ozark Mountain today. 30 seconds: load & go with the ER Silvertip. Easy, excellent lather. Personna Med Prep still in the NEW SC. Incredible, smooth, close, nick free shave. I finished with Country Club Southern Oud. The Southern Oud matches up very well with the Ozark Mountain!

I have no doubt. I don't know if it's to do with my technique, or my water quality, but I have a very difficult time getting it to lather consistently; I suspect that my face is simply not particularly sensitive, resulting in my relatively muted notice of the menthol except around my lips.

    Menthol Monday
    Pre- Corn Huskers
    Soap - CO Bigelow
    Brush - Turkish #6
Razor - Schick Krona "Eversharp" 1966
    Blade - Astra SP (2)
    AS - Skin Bracer

Tried the Schick Krona for the first time today. For me a very mild razor but produced a good shave overall but with some irritation based on my Alum block. Will take more practice. First impression, it is almost too mild, required a lot of clean up after 3 passes on chin and upper lip. Blaming operator error at this point.

Actually this is the 23rd time I have used it a SOTD. I have a spreadsheet that I use to make sure I rotate my hardware/software as I have way to much goodies to shave with.

    cold rinse

5th shave overall- 2nd with the gillette blades. No burn, closer shave- but probably more due to technique improvement than the blade. Time will tell!
